Patriot Super PAC
Iowa TV Ad +
:30 ad from March 8, 2013.
[Music] Female Announcer: Sometime soon, Virginia Gov. Bob McDonnell may be in Iowa to test the waters for 2016. But don't be fooled. As a candidate McDonnell promised Virginians he would never raise taxes. But as governor [static SFX], McDonnell pushed the largest tax increase in Virginia history—on retail, gasoline, property, cars, land and more.
So if Bob McDonnell comes to Iowa remember [static SFX] you can't
believe a word he says.
Male Announcer: Paid for by
Patriot Super PAC [breaking
glass SFX]. Not authorized by any candidate or candidate
committee.
Notes: This is the very
first ad of the 2016 presidential campaign; a small buy of $4,395
generated a lot of media attention. The group followed the Iowa
ad with a very similar NH version, a buy of $7,800 run March 12. Patriot Super
PAC, which launched in Jan. 2012, describes itself as a tea party Super
PAC. Principals are executive director Tom Freiling,
Advisory Committee chair Steve Elliott and political advisor Eric
Odom; Jamie Radtke, the Virginia Tea Party activist who waged an
unsucessful U.S. Senate primary campaign against George Allen in 2012,
is listed as the contact person.
According to a March 7, 2013 posting on the Patriot Super PAC blog...
"Folks in Iowa, Florida, New Hampshire and other critical GOP
primary
states should take note here. You see, Virginia’s Governor Bob
McDonnell campaigned on a promise not to raise taxes. Unfortunately for
Virginia taxpayers, McDonnell has shattered that promise in spectacular
fashion, colluding with Democrats and tax-hiking Republicans for the
necessary votes to pass the massive $6 billion tax increase."

The Patriot SuperPAC is dedicated to the
core principles of liberty and limited government on which our country
was founded. We believe most Americans don’t support the
big-government, high-tax agenda forced on them by Obama’s socialist and
liberal cohorts.
We believe time is of the essence. It is no exaggeration to say that this is a critical juncture in America’s history. Cataclysmic levels of tax and debt, intrusive Federal control, and a nationalized health care system will reshape and devastate our democracy.
Our two-fold mission is to end Obama’s reign and to help elect conservative candidates to Congress. We are completely independent of any Party. We only support those candidates who will stand firm in the face of big-government. In other words, we don’t support RINO’s (Republican In Name Only).
By law we are an independent-expenditure only committee, sometimes referred to as a “super PAC.” Federal law allows us to endorse and support candidates but we are not allowed to coordinate directly with candidates or political parties (so please don’t even ask us to). The law also allows us to raise unlimited sums from individuals, corporations, and other groups.
We are required to disclose our donors just like traditional Political Action Committees.
Tom Freiling serves as the Executive Director of Patriot
Super PAC.
