"Conservative State Governors Creating Jobs and Prosperity" +

2:00 video from April 8, 2014.

[Music] TEXT: "The Fastest-Growing States All Have Republican Governors"  Investors Business Daily Column, 9/21/13

Gov. Nikki Haley (SC): Republican governors have the right policies to get their states moving, and they're proving it every single day.

Gov. Bobby Jindal (LA): I think Republican governors know exactly what it takes to get their private sector economies growing.  And it's important.  I said private sector economies.  What Republican governors understand is, you can't tax, spend, borrow your way to prosperity.

Gov. Sam Brownback (KS): It's a very simple principle that Ronald Reagan would articulate.  If you want less of something, tax it.  If you want more of something, he would say, don't tax it or subsidize it.  We want more small business.  We want more growth so we're going to tax it less or in our case, we're not going to tax it at all.

TEXT: "Think tank ranks GOP state best for economic growth"  USA Today 5/30/13

Gov. Rick Scott (FL): Look at the results.  Republican governors across the country are doing outstanding.  In those states, unemployment's dropping faster than in states that are not Republican governors.  The unemployment rate's coming down faster, jobs are coming back, companies are prospering.

Gov. Terry Branstad (IA): Republican governors all across the country have proven they have the right kind of policies to get the economy going in their states.  The states with the lowest unemployment rate have Republican governors.

Gov. Haley: If you give a person a job, you take care of a family, and how do we lift them up, how do we look at that person that's going to welfare right now and get them a job?  We've done that in South Carolina.  18,500 people we've taken off of welfare, put to work with a 94% retention rate they've stayed in their jobs.

"States With Republican Governors Lead In Job Creation And Growth"  U.S. News & World Report Op-Ed 7/23/13

Gov. Jindal: This is what it really means.  It means that your children have the confidence, they get a great education, they work hard, they can get a good paying job in Louisiana.  I promised our people that's what we'd do, and that's exactly what we've done.

Gov. Sean Parnell: I can give my kids something better than I was given.  I can give them a future.  And when you can do that, when you can say that as an American, that's the American Dream.

Gov. Haley: That's what Republican governors are doing.  It's not what we're saying, it's what we're doing that's making a difference for people in our states.

Notes:  Interesting that the video doesn't include Gov. Perry.  The sources of the text statements are a bit sketchy: a column, an unnamed think tank, and and op-ed, all from 2013.  Here is the April 8 press release...

Conservative Governors Highlight Success Around the U.S.

New AEF ad touts proven job creating policies

AUSTIN — Conservative governors from across the country are sharing the keys to successful job creation and economic opportunity in Americans for Economic Freedom’s (AEF) new web ad.

“State economic policies can be the difference between flourishing economies and unbridled opportunities for families, or sluggish economic growth,” AEF CEO Jeff Miller said. “Employers looking for economic stability and the best chance at success continue to flock to conservatively governed states that have proven their economic model works.”

Governors like South Carolina’s Nikki Haley, Louisiana’s Bobby Jindal, Kansas’ Sam Brownback, Florida’s Rick Scott, Iowa’s Terry Branstad and Alaska’s Sean Parnell have focused on implementing policies to grow their states’ economies and allow employers and families to keep more of what they earn.

The latest data released Friday by the U.S. Department of Labor shows the nation’s unemployment rate has remained stagnant at 6.7 percent.

However, states led by conservative governors continue to fuel the nation’s economic engine. According to data compiled by Dr. Arthur Laffer, nine of the 10 states with the highest growth in employment are led by conservative governors. These states are also seeing an influx of population growth and in-migration of personal wealth.

AEF operates as a 501(c)(4) that examines and promotes policies that work to create opportunity, and does not engage in direct political advocacy. Board members include Marc Rodriguez, chairman of the United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Newt Gingrich, Carly Fiorina, Tom McKernan, August Busch III and Dr. Art Laffer.
