Pastor Allen Overton:  The city of Flint has no fresh, clean water source and the water is poisoned.

Angelina Harris:  We can't drink the water, we can't bathe in the water, you can't cook with the water.

Flint Mayor Karen Weaver:  There was a time when we were alone and nobody heard our story.

[Music changes tempo]

Hillary Clinton:  I am here because for nearly two years Flint's water was poisoned...

Pastor Allen Overton:  Hillary Clinton came here to show that she's standing with us.

Flint Mayor Karen Weaver:  She's the one that brought this to another level of attention and that's what we needed.

Hillary Clinton:  If what had been happening in Flint had happened in Grosse Pointe or Bloomfield Hills. I think we all know we would have had a solution yesterday.  [applause]

Pastor Allen Overton:  Hillary Clinton really cares about people...

Angelina Harris:  She's awesome...

Flint Mayor Karen Weaver:  When you have somebody like that fighting for you and supporting you and saying I've got your back, you can't ask for much more.

Hillary Clinton:  And I will fight for you in Flint no matter how long it takes.

Clinton (voiceover):  I'm Hillary Clinton and I approve this message.

Hillary for America Releases New Ad Highlighting Clinton’s Commitment to Solving the Flint Water Crisis

Today, Hillary for America released a new sixty second ad called, “This City Means Something,” highlighting the ongoing water crisis in Flint, Michigan and Hillary Clinton’s commitment to solving the problem and providing long-term support to the people of Flint.

The new ad airing in Michigan features Flint Mayor Karen Weaver, Pastor Allen Overton, and Flint resident Angelina Harris discussing their own accounts of Clinton’s commitment to fixing the crisis in Flint no matter how long it takes. In the ad Mayor Karen Weaver says, “When you have somebody like that fighting for you and supporting you and saying ‘I’ve got your back,’ you can’t ask for much more.”

Upon learning of the crisis, Clinton sent senior aides to Flint to meet with the Mayor and local leaders, to work with families and community service organizations, and to help identify solutions to the ongoing lead poisoning crisis.

Clinton personally travelled to Flint earlier this month to bring attention to the crisis, and publicly called on Gov. Rick Snyder to stop refusing to trigger additional federal resources from the Obama administration by formally requesting federal emergency status. After Clinton's challenge, Snyder publicly sought a presidential declaration that would allow additional federal resources to come to Flint.

Hillary for America also sent an email to supporters urging them to donate to help the children in Flint, and the campaign opened an office in Flint to serve as a resource for local supporters to get involved with volunteer opportunities to support the relief effort. In the past weeks, Clinton campaign volunteers have joined the Red Cross and other local relief organizations to distribute water and other supplies to Flint residents.
