Jeb lands NH Senate President Chuck Morse in major endorsement

On his second day on a three day trip to NH, Jeb picked up the support of New Hampshire Senate President Chuck Morse in a “major endorsement” this morning. As reported by WMUR, the Salem senator is supporting Jeb for his conservative record as Governor and his willingness to take on the special interests in Washington.

“Washington is broken and we need to send a proven leader with a strong, conservative track record there to turn entrenched government upside down and make it work for Americans again.  Jeb Bush has that track record and he needs to be our next President,” said Chuck Morse, President of the New Hampshire State Senate. "In a field of good candidates, Jeb Bush clearly stands out.  Jeb’s never been part of the DC culture and he will take on the special interests and and bring fiscal sanity to Washington.  We’re never going to fix the problems down there by electing people who’ve helped create the problems or someone who has proven incapable of fixing it.  I know Jeb's done it before in Florida and know he’ll do it again as President.

"Senator Morse has spent years fighting for Granite State families, working to lower taxes and reduce regulations that make it harder for us to grow the economy and give people the opportunities they deserve. He is one of the hardest working elected officials in New Hampshire and I'm proud to add him to our growing team in the state,” said former Governor Jeb Bush.

WMUR: Jeb Bush lands Senate President Chuck Morse in major endorsement

Salem senator cites Bush’s track record, independence from ‘Washington culture’

One of the state’s highest ranking Republican elected officials  will endorse Jeb Bush for president on Wednesday, WMUR.com has learned.

State Senate President Chuck Morse, R-Salem, will formally reveal his presidential choice when he introduces the former Florida governor at a town hall at the McAulliffe-Shepard Discovery Center in Concord.

The campaign says Morse is joining will be as New Hampshire co-chair.

Morse has been a state senator since January 2011 and has led the Senate since September 2013. Previously, he chaired the powerful Senate Finance Committee.

Morse is known as a fiscal hawk, but at the same time a pragmatic lawmaker who is open to compromise.

Backing Bush, Morse, 54, said: “Washington is broken and we need to send a proven leader with a strong, conservative track record there to turn entrenched government upside down and make it work for Americans again. Jeb Bush has that track record and he needs to be our next President.”

“In a field of good candidates, Jeb Bush clearly stands out,” Morse said. “Jeb has never been part of the D.C. culture and he will take on the special interests and bring fiscal sanity to Washington.

"We’re never going to fix the problems down there by electing people who’ve helped create the problems or someone who has proven incapable of fixing it. I know Jeb has done it before in Florida and know he’ll do it again as president," Morse said.

Morse becomes the highest ranking active Republican elected official so far in the campaign to make a presidential endorsement.

"Sen. Morse has spent years fighting for Granite State families, working to lower taxes and reduce regulations that make it harder for us to grow the economy and give people the opportunities they deserve," Bush said.

"He is one of the hardest working elected officials in New Hampshire and I'm proud to add him to our growing team in the state."

But Morse met with many candidates and was heavily courted by them. His decision to endorse Bush clearly provides a boost to the former governor's New Hampshire effort.
