Nov. - Does not seek re-election as chair of the House Republican Conference.
Jan. 27 - Announces he will not seek the Republican presidential nomination in 2012.
May 5 - Announces candidacy for governor.
Nov. 6 - Mike Pence/Sue Ellspermann (R) def. John Gregg/Vi Simpson (D) and Boneham/Klopfenstein (L) by 49.49% to 46.56% and 3.95%.
Jan. 14 - Starts tenure as governor.


May 6 - Unopposed in Rep. primary.
July 15 - Trump announces Pence as running mate
Jan. 20 - Age on Inauguration Day 57 years, 7.5 months.

Nov. 5 - Re-elected, with 63.79% of the vote, def. Mel Fox (D) and Doris Robertson (L).

Sept. - Elected chairman of the Republican Study Committee.
Nov. 2 - Re-elected with 68.20% of the vote, def. Mel Fox (D) and Chad Roots (L).
