THE 2016 COMMITTEE ANNOUNCES NEW NATIONAL AND REGIONAL DIRECTORS

Restructuring will empower staff, 31,000 volunteers to focus on informing voters about Dr. Ben Carson’s qualifications for presidency

Merrifield, Va. — August 24, 2015 — The 2016 Committee, a political action committee raising awareness and support for Dr. Ben Carson’s campaign for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, today announced the appointment of William Saracino to serve as the Committee’s national director and Chuck Muth as communications director. The Committee also announced the appointment of six regional directors and deputy directors.

“I’m excited about this strategic change we’re making at the 2016 Committee,” said John Philip Sousa IV, chairman of The 2016 Committee. “Our original purpose was to create a groundswell of support for Dr. Carson to run, and he’s now running. Our new goal is to help Dr. Carson win the Republican nomination, and then the White House, and this restructuring will allow us to be more effective in spreading the word about Dr. Carson and his prescription for America.”

Saracino, an experienced communications expert and political campaign strategist, previously served as the Committee’s communications director and western regional political director. Muth moves into the communications director position full-time after providing strategic counsel to the Committee since October of 2014

As part of the transition, The 2016 Committee restructured several positions within the organization, including appointing Eddie Facey as western regional director, Steven Arnold as southern regional director, Chris Horne as deputy southeast regional director and Gray Delaney as deputy southwest regional director. Tina Goff and Sarah De La Cerda remain as Midwest regional director and northeast regional director, respectively.

“These new positions will enable Committee leaders to focus on educating voters about Dr. Carson’s vision for America and better organize for continued grassroots success in key primary states,” Sousa said.
