Over $2 Million in Grassroots Support Contributed to Neurosurgeon Dr. Ben Carson’s Presidential Exploratory Committee

ALEXANDRIA, VA - Contributions to Dr. Ben Carson's presidential exploratory committee demonstrated early strength with contributions totaling over $2,143,945.00 in just 28 days of activity. The committee received 40,130 donations from 36,059 new donors. The average gift to the committee was $54.

“This level of grass-roots support during the exploratory committee phase is remarkable, if not unprecedented,” said Barry Bennett, Campaign Manager for the Carson America Exploratory Committee. “To reach this number with only 50 major donors making the maximum contribution shows the enthusiasm that everyday people across the entire country have for Dr. Carson and his common-sense vision for America.” Contribution records revealed donations from each of the 50 States, with four of the top ten counties showing support from California and four from Texas. Houston and San Antonio led all cities in support of the Carson America Exploratory Committee.

When Dr. Carson announced the formation of the exploratory committee, he pledged to spend time listening to the American people to inform his decision to mount a campaign for President. His commitment has thus far taken him to 23 states in the 28 days represented in the first-quarter Federal Election Commission (FEC) filing. The first-quarter filing covers financial activity from March 3-31, 2015.
