2016 Democratic Calendar - The Road to Philadelphia

This calendar of state / territory Democratic delegate selection dates shows the first determining step.  Click on the dates for contest details.  Thirty-nine primaries and 22 caucus/conventions took place between Feb. 1 and June 14, 2016.  There were 4,765 total delegates (4,051 pledged and 714 unpledged) and 347 alternates.  Clinton won 34 contests (29 primaries and five caucus or conventions), amassing 16.9 million total votes.  Sanders won 22 contests (10 primaries and 12 caucus or conventions) tallying a total of 13.2 million votes.  See also: Democratic Vote Summary.
