RNC Statement On Tonight's Election Results

WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus issued the following statement on tonight’s election results:

“Hillary Clinton’s losses in Nebraska and Kansas are another setback for her embattled campaign and a sign Bernie Sanders isn’t going away. The fact that a self-avowed socialist continues to win states and outraise her is another indication Clinton cannot escape the fundamental flaws of her candidacy or the FBI investigation into her secretive and reckless conduct. Hillary Clinton’s inability to turn out and even win key elements of President Obama’s coalition are significant red flags for Democrats’ hopes of holding the White House for another four years. Regardless of who emerges from their primary, Democrats will be saddled with an out-of-touch candidate destined to fail in a general election and a message that isn’t resonating or in line with the majority of Americans.

“After eight years of failed policies at home and abroad under President Obama, voters are hungry for change and are turning out in record numbers in our Republican primaries and caucuses. While our candidates offer the course correction our country desperately needs, Hillary Clinton and Bernie Sanders are only promising more of the same. Only a Republican president can restore America’s promise and bring the security and prosperity that President Obama and the Democrats have failed to deliver.”
