Santorum, who has two sons at The Citadel, travels to the state fairly frequently for private visits.
2015
>Former Sen. Rick Santorum visited SC on September 26, 2015.  He participated in the Irmo Okra Strut Parade in Irmo; and spoke at a "Marriage God's Way" prayer rally at the State House in Columbia.

>Sen. Rick Santorum visited SC on September 18, 2015.  He filed paperwork to appear on the Republican primary ballot at South Carolina GOP headquarters in Columbia; visited the Columbia Greek Festival on Sumter St. in Columbia; and participated in Heritage America's Take Back America Forum in Greenville.

>Sen. Rick Santorum visited SC on September 6-7, 2015.  On September 6 he attended the Bojangles' Southern 500 race in Darlington.  On the morning of September 7 he walked in the Chapin Labor Day Parade in Chapin.

>Former Sen. Rick Santorum visited SC on September 2, 2015He is to participate in one of Sen. Rick Santorum visited SC on July 28, 2015.  He participated in the InsideSources and America's Power "Road to 2016: Informing the Energy Debate" policy discussion at The Hall at Senate's End in Columbia; spoke at an Aiken Republican Club lunch at Newberry Hall in Aiken; and held a town hall meeting at the Laurens County Higher Education Center at Piedmont Technical College in Clinton.

On the afternoon of May 31 he made a retail stop at Tommy's Ham House in Greenville; and made remarks and judged the food eating contest at the "Food Truck Bash" at Trailblazer Park in Travelers Rest.

>Former Gov. Rick Santorum appeared at three events in support of Henry McMaster for lieutenant governor (June 24 runoff with Mike Campbell) in SC on June 23, 2014.  He joined McMaster for a news conference at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport in Greer; at a meet and greet at the Beacon Drive-in in Spartanburg; and at a meet and greet at the Crowne Plaze Hotel in Greenville.

>Former Sen. Rick Santorum visited SC on April 14, 2014.  He made a stop at The Citadel in Charleston, where two of his sons are cadets; did a Patriot Voices meet and greet in Mt. Pleasant; gave the keynote address at the Charleston County Republican Women's lunch meeting at Mark Clark Hall in Charleston; and addressed a meeting of the Charleston County Republican Committee at North Charleston City Hall in North Charleston.  According to a Patriot Voices media advisory he was planning to attend private fundraisers in Charleston and Columbia and meet with grassroots activists and political leaders.

Rick Santorum visited SC on May 3-4, 2013.  On May 3 he visited The Citadel in Charleston for his son John's Recognition Day.  On May 4 per spokeswoman Virginia Davis via the Des Moines Register he “became ill and was admitted to the hospital for a gastro-intestinal illness and dehydration.”
