U.S. Senators and Representatives Praise Hillary Clinton's Commitment to Breaking Down Barriers, Record of Delivering Real Results

Seattle, WA – This week, Hillary for Washington will open five campaign offices across the Evergreen State in Everett, Renton, Seattle, Spokane, and Tacoma.  At the office openings, supporters and volunteers will highlight Hillary Clinton's vision for breaking down barriers that hold people back, her record of delivering real results for families, and the importance of caucusing for Hillary on Saturday, March 26th. In conjunction with the office openings, Washington's U.S. Senators and Democratic Congressional delegation released statements of support for Hillary Clinton's candidacy for president.

The new offices will serve as a hub for organizing activity throughout the state, with volunteers planning and launching phone banks and canvasses to encourage Washingtonians to caucus for Hillary Clinton on March 26th. Supporters interested in learning more or signing up to volunteer can do so by visiting hillaryclinton.com/wa.

"I've known Hillary for years and I've seen how hard she fights for workers, families, kids, and communities across the country. I am proud to support Hillary as she works to shatter that highest and hardest glass ceiling and break down the barriers facing every American. As Washington state prepares to caucus, I know Hillary is going to work hard to earn support in communities across our state," said U.S. Senator Patty Murray.

"Hillary has a lifetime record of fighting for equal pay, quality health care and affordable education, and she'll always keep fighting for us. I'm proud to have worked with Hillary on the Ex-Im Bank that has supported record growth for Washington State businesses to export their products overseas while creating American jobs here at home," said U.S. Senator Maria Cantwell.

“Hillary has fought to break down barriers to equality, LGBT rights and women’s rights throughout her entire life. She has a solid vision for a stronger and more inclusive country that ensures women finally earn equal pay for equal work and that working people are paid a fair wage,” said Rep. Suzan DelBene.

"Hillary is no stranger to the South Sound. She's fought for policies that empower hard-working Washingtonians for decades. As president, she will defend the policies that work for Washingtonians and build on what President Obama has accomplished as she pushes for strong, fair, and sustained economic growth for all Americans," said Rep. Denny Heck.

"As a dad of two little girls, I'm proud to help elect Hillary Clinton for president. She is ready to fight to make our economy work for every American. She has a long track record of strengthening the middle class, defending our troops and veterans, making education more affordable," said Rep. Derek Kilmer.

"Hillary Clinton shares my belief that our country needs an economy that includes everyone and works for everyone. She knows our country faces great challenges including wages that aren't rising for most Washingtonians. As President, Hillary Clinton will make the investments needed to create jobs and opportunities for all Americans, not just the elite few. I join a strong, diverse group of supporters in Washington state who are ready to caucus for Hillary," said Rep. Rick Larsen.

“Hillary is a progressive who will always be on the side of working people. She has all the experience you need to be a good president, and she’s focused on the right issues like raising the minimum wage and creating more opportunities for affordable college, housing and health care,” said Rep. Jim McDermott.

"Hillary Clinton will be a tireless advocate for those who have been left out and left behind.  Whether it's her plan to make college more affordable or address income inequality, Hillary has a vision for a just and fair economy that works for all of us," said Rep. Adam Smith.

Seattle, WA - Hillary for WA today announced the support of more than 40 state legislators who are helping build a grassroots team to support Hillary Clinton in advance of the Washington Caucus. Legislators highlighted Clinton's vision for breaking down barriers that hold people back, her record of delivering real results for families, and the importance of caucusing for Hillary on Saturday, March 26.

Supporters interested in learning more about the caucus or signing up to volunteer can do so by visiting hillaryclinton.com/wa.

"Hillary is a strong supporter of Washington State students and teachers. With her experience improving our nation’s schools, Hillary will improve early childhood education and expand opportunities for our students. As president, she will be a voice for public schools to ensure each child has the opportunity to succeed," said House Deputy Majority Floor Leader Steve Bergquist.

"Following the September 11 terrorist attacks, I worked for Senator Hillary Clinton in her New York City office and observed firsthand her tireless advocacy for first responders, survivors and their families," said Senate Democratic Whip Cyrus Habib. "She's spent her life fighting for and delivering results that make a real difference in people’s lives. At a time when other candidates are spreading divisive and hateful rhetoric about minorities, immigrants, women, and people with disabilities, Hillary Clinton will bring people together to break down barriers."

"Hillary is focused on building a just, inclusive, and equal country. In addition to tearing down economic barriers, she's working to end discrimination so all Americans can live, learn, and work free of prejudice," said Senate Assistant Democratic Floor Leader Marko Liias.

"We need a progressive voice who is ready to protect women’s rights, LGBT rights, and voting rights, and Hillary is that champion. From supporting equal pay and paid family leave to making education more affordable, her priorities are the priorities of working people across our state," said Assistant House Majority Whip Joan McBride.

"Hillary is focused on ensuring all Washingtonians, not just those who can afford it, have access to good paying jobs, quality schools, and affordable health care. She has the passion to always fight for equality and justice for every person in our country," said House Speaker Pro Tempore Jim Moeller.

"As a father of four daughters, I'm proud to support Hillary, who has the experience, passion, and knowledge to lead our country," said Assistant Whip Sen. Mark Mullet. "Hillary will be a small business president making it easier for entrepreneurs to grow and expand while ensuring good wages and quality health care."

"From protecting the environment to fighting for affordable housing and living wage jobs, Hillary is fighting for the priorities of Washington's women, children, and families. As First Lady, Senator and Secretary of State, she's always been a strong advocate of progressive values and delivered on her promises. As our president, she will continue breaking down barriers holding Washingtonians back," said Senate Democratic Leader Sharon Nelson.

"Hillary Clinton will be an effective voice for Washington with her focus on schools, health care, housing, and the environment. She will work to expand opportunity for Washington women by closing the pay gap and fighting for affordable child care," said Deputy Speaker Pro Tempore Tina Orwall.

"For the last 40 years, Hillary has been fighting for racial and social justice, and as our president, she will continue to confront the reality of systemic racism that still exists in our country today. She will work to end the school to prison pipeline, invest in our communities, make college affordable, and end the era of mass incarceration," said House Majority Caucus Chair Eric Pettigrew.

"Hillary Clinton understands that our nation’s success is rooted in lifting up our middle-class families by raising wages, making college affordable, and lowering drug and health care costs. She will partner with our communities to ensure we're making key investments in K-12 and higher education, our roads and bridges, and our environment," said Deputy Majority Leader Larry Springer.

"From keeping our country safe to building an economy that works for all Washingtonians, we need a president who will fight for all of us and get the job done right. Clinton Announces Support from WA Native American Leaders

Seattle, WA - Following Hillary Clinton's roundtable discussion at the Puyallup Indian Reservation earlier this week, tribal leaders from across Washington announced their support for her presidential candidacy. There are more than 100,000 Native individuals in the state of Washington -- making Washington's Native American community one of the country's largest.

At the roundtable, Clinton discussed with tribal leaders her commitment to strengthening the sacred trust the U.S. government has with Native Americans, including her plans to invest in Native youth, strengthen public safety and justice in Indian Country, and combat drug and alcohol addiction. The Puyallup Tribe honored Clinton with a Lushootseed name that translates into “strong woman.”

"Hillary understands the Tribes' goal of Nation Building and I believe she will honor the Government-to-Government relationship between the 566 Indian Nations and the U.S. government," said Chairman Ron Allen, Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe.

"Secretary Clinton has a long history of working on issues of importance to Native Americans. From her work on the Indian Health Care Improvement Act and Children's Health Insurance Program, to supporting the United States' role in the U.N. Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples, Hillary has long been by our side. I know, as President, that she will continue fighting for us and building on the progress we have experienced in the last eight years," said Chairman Brian Cladoosby, Swinomish Indian Tribal Community.

“Hillary Clinton provides a voice for communities who are too often left out and left behind. As Secretary of State, her support for the U.N. Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples helped to enhance the relationship between the U.S. and tribal governments, and reaffirmed her support for tribal sovereignty," said Chairwoman Frances Charles, Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe.

“Hillary Clinton will break down traditional barriers for Native American youth. She knows that one of the most important investments we can make in our country’s future is to ensure that everyone has access to education from cradle to college," said Chairperson Virginia Cross, Muckleshoot Indian Tribe.

“Hillary Clinton understands the unique and historic relationship between Indian Tribes and the United States.  Her experience as First Lady in promoting positive and meaningful consultation with tribal government on health care was historic.  Her service as a U.S. Senator and Secretary of State has prepared her to lead the Nation in a way that will honor our trust relationship through effective consultation," said Chairman Leonard Forsman, Suquamish Tribe.

"To me she is an individual that not only listens but she hears and takes it to heart. Her respect for Indian country is so insurmountable that everything that was shared in that room she had already had in her position paper. We are going to need a president that supports policies, a president that is going to understand the trust responsibility that this government has in protecting our treaty-reserved homeland, our treaty protected resources and recognizing our government-to-government level of discussion, and honoring our tribal sovereignty," said Roleen Hargrove, Puyallup Tribal Council Vice Chairwoman.

"Hillary is a change-maker who has demonstrated her respect for our treaty rights and who will deliver on her commitment to strengthening and building on the government-to-government relationship between the United States and Indian tribes," said Mel Sheldon, Chairman, Tulalip Tribes.

“It was an honor and a privilege to host Secretary Clinton at a roundtable discussion with 19 tribes on the Puyallup Reservation," said Bill Sterud, Chairman, Puyallup Tribe."Secretary Clinton showed her strength and compassion to all at that historic meeting,"
