Top Wyoming Dems Endorse Clinton Ahead of Saturday’s Caucus

Local officials say Clinton is most qualified candidate to deliver results for Wyoming

Cheyenne, Wyo. – Top Democrats from Wyoming today endorsed Hillary Clinton for President and urged Wyomingites to caucus for her this Saturday, April 9. The endorsements represent nearly half of the state’s 13 Democratic legislators.

Former Wyoming Governor Mike Sullivan, State Representative Andy Schwartz of Teton County, and other leading Democrats across the state say that Clinton is the only candidate in the race who can raise incomes for Wyoming families and break down barriers that hold Wyomingites back.

“I’ve known Hillary for decades, and I’m convinced she brings the experience, leadership, and capacity to make a positive difference in the lives of our citizens,” former Gov. Sullivan said. “In this strange chapter of our politics, with the enormity of the challenges our country faces, we must be serious and vigilant about who can unite us and how we can move forward. Hillary Clinton is prepared and capable to do this job and will make a great President.”

"I believe Hillary is the candidate who brings strong skills to the position and would be a great president,” Rep. Schwartz said. “She's proven she has the experience and acumen to get the job done."

Other Wyoming Democrats endorsing Clinton today include:

State Senator Floyd Esquibel
State Representative and Minority Leader Mary Throne
State Representative James Byrd
State Representative Ken Esquibel
State Representative JoAnn Dayton
Former Wyoming Secretary of State Kathy Karpan
Former Wyoming Deputy Secretary of State Margy White

In addition to these Democratic leaders, Clinton has also earned the support of all six members of the Northern Arapaho Business Council, as well as the Chairman and other tribal leaders of the Eastern Shoshone.

Hillary for Wyoming is fighting for every vote in every county, with organizers spread out across the Cowboy State, from Jackson to Sheridan to Lusk. Earlier this week, President Bill Clinton visited the state to campaign for his wife in Cheyenne, and yesterday former Interior Secretary and Colorado U.S. Senator Ken Salazar made campaign stops in Cheyenne and Laramie.

Also earlier this week, former Wyoming Secretary of State Kathy Karpan penned an op-ed in the Wyoming Tribune Eagle and Casper Star Tribune about why she thinks Clinton is without a doubt the most qualified candidate to President.
