Hillary for Indiana Announces Support of More Than 20 State Legislators

Indianapolis, IN - Hillary for Indiana today announced the support of more than 20 state legislators who are helping build a grassroots team to support Hillary Clinton in advance of the Democratic primary. Legislators highlighted Clinton's vision for breaking down barriers that hold people back and her record of delivering real results for Hoosier families.

Ahead of the primary, legislators are participating in grassroots organizing events, recruiting volunteer leaders, and identifying supporters to help Get Out the Vote for Clinton.

"Too many Hoosiers families are being left behind, and they deserve leadership that will deliver results. Hillary will be a president to make sure all Hoosiers have the opportunity succeed by growing Indiana’s low wages, addressing drug abuse and making significant investments in our roads, schools and health care,” said Senate Democratic Leader Tim Lanane.

“Like most common-sense Hoosiers, Hillary Clinton’s top priorities are growing Hoosier wages, treating our workers fairly, and supporting education from early education to college. She will fight to protect LGBT rights and women’s rights that have been under assault by Republicans in our state,” said Rep. Scott Pelath, Minority Leader of the Indiana House of Representatives.

“Republicans like Donald Trump, Ted Cruz and Governor Pence want to insert themselves into the private decisions of women and threaten the progress we’ve made under President Obama. Hillary Clinton will take on these dangerous Republicans and fight for Hoosiers,” said Assistant Democratic Leader Jean D. Breaux.

“While too many candidates in this race are focused on bigotry and divisive rhetoric, Hillary will bring people together and focus on the issues. She will expand early childhood education, protect women’s access to health care, and address violence against women,” said Rep. Linda Lawson, Indiana House Democratic Caucus Floor Leader.

“As First Lady, Senator, and Secretary, Hillary Clinton went to work and quickly got results. She’s overwhelmingly qualified to be our president, and she’s exactly the kind of tested leader we need to deliver results for Hoosiers,” said Rep. Phil GiaQuinta, Assistant Leader of the Indiana House of Representatives.

“Hillary Clinton is a tough leader who will work tirelessly to build on the agenda of President Obama and tackle the systemic inequalities facing Hoosiers. To keep our communities safe, she will deliver results on gun violence reform and police accountability to protect our children, families and communities,” said Sen. Lonnie Randolph, Assistant Minority Caucus Chair.

"Hillary has been fighting for equality and justice since her time as a young lawyer investigating the living conditions of youth incarcerated in adult jails. She will build on President Obama’s progress by focusing on the issues that are on the minds of Hoosiers like education, health care costs, and stagnant wages,” said Rep. Robin Shackleford, Indiana House Democratic Caucus Floor Leader.

“Working families need a fighter to protect their jobs and raise their standard of living, and Hillary will be their champion. From LGBT equality to women’s rights to access to good paying jobs, her top priorities are the priorities of Hoosiers," said StateSen. Karen Tallian.
