Seven Former Maryland Democratic Party Chairs Endorse Hillary Clinton

Today, seven former Chairs of the Maryland Democratic Party endorsed Hillary Clinton, citing her track record of getting results for families and breaking down barriers for all communities. These party leaders announced their support for Hillary Clinton, who they believe will best unite the Democratic Party and work to elect Democratic candidates up and down the ticket.

"Hillary Clinton has shown repeatedly that she will not back down from a tough fight," said Yvette Lewis, chair from 2011 to 2015 from Prince George's County. "I have decided to support Hillary Clinton because she is a committed, compassionate public servant who has spent her career fighting for women, children, and working families."

"I'm supporting Hillary Clinton because she is a doer and is focused on getting things done," said Terry Lierman, chair from 2004 to 2007 and former Chief of Staff to Congressman Steny Hoyer. "She fought to provide health care for all, she understands how Washington can and should work, and has a lifetime of dedication to working for all to have the opportunity of achieving what they are capable of achieving."

"Hillary Clinton has been an ally of Maryland families for the last several decades," said Ike Leggett, chair from 2002 to 2004 and current Montgomery County Executive. "She has put forth policy proposals that will help families get the leg up they need, and she's tough enough to keep working until she gets results for all Marylanders."
