Asian American and Pacific Islander Elected Officials from Across California Endorse Hillary Clinton for President

San Francisco, CA -- Today, Hillary for California released the full list of Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) California elected officials who have endorsed Secretary Clinton for president. Democrats of AAPI heritage all across California have added their names in support of Hillary Clinton as the best choice for president and the only candidate who can break down the barriers that are holding AAPIs back and build ladders of opportunity and empowerment in their place.

“As the first Chinese American woman elected to Congress, I stand wholeheartedly with Hillary Clinton, ” said Congresswoman Judy Chu (D-CA-27), chair of the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus.  “As Senator, she championed legislation to help achieve equal pay and close the pay gap for women.  As Secretary of State, she traveled the world as our nation’s top diplomat and helped keep our country and economy safe and strong.  Without a doubt, she is the only person who can continue the progress made by President Obama in making our nation more equal and just for all Americans.”

Hillary for California also announced the kick-off of an in-language phone bank effort designed to reach AAPI voters.  In the coming weeks, volunteers in Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, Sacramento and San Diego will be dialing Mandarin, Cantonese, Korean, and Tagalog speaking voters to urge them to vote in the June 7 primary or earlier by mail.

“As the first Korean-American elected to the Los Angeles City Council, I am proud to support Hillary Clinton for President,” said Los Angeles City Councilmember David Ryu.  “She is someone who understands our community and shares our values, having fought tirelessly to increase access to healthcare, improve education quality for all children, and ensure all Americans have the opportunity to build their own American Dream.”
