Hillary Clinton to Donald Trump: We Can Still Make It in America

Today, Hillary Clinton visited the Knotty Tie Company in Denver, Colorado to highlight Donald Trump's hypocritical and embarrassing history of outsourcing jobs overseas while claiming to fight for the American worker. Trump, who has claimed outsourcing is "sometimes...a necessary step," has made dozens of his products in other countries while making a hollow pledge to bring jobs back to the United States.

"I wish Donald Trump could meet all of you and see what you are making here," Clinton said "I really would like him to explain why he paid Chinese workers to make Trump ties...instead of deciding to make those ties right here in Colorado with a company like Knotty."

Clinton, making her case for the biggest investment in new, good-paying jobs since World War II, debunked Trump's ridiculous excuse that "they don’t even make this stuff here” and launched HillaryClinton.com/make-it-here, a website that showcases more than 100 places in America that make the products Trump makes overseas.

See for yourself how Hillary Clinton compared Donald Trump's rhetoric to reality on outsourcing, hiring American workers, and more:

If he wants to make America great again, he could start by actually making things in America again.

  • ABC: Donald Trump Decries Outsourcing but Much of Family Brand Is Manufactured Abroad
  • Trump ties, made in China
  • Trump suits and clothing, made in Mexico
  • Trump shirts, made in Bangladesh
  • Trump furniture, made in Turkey and Germany
  • Trump picture frames, made in India
  • Trump barware, made in Slovenia
  • Trump Vodka, made in the Netherlands
What’s his excuse? He says, “They don’t even make this stuff here.” How can you count on someone who talks down America to stand up for American workers?

  • FactCheck.org: When asked why he doesn’t lead by example and have more of his products from the Donald J. Trump Collection made in the U.S., Trump wrongly responded, “They don’t even make this stuff here.” They do.
  • Washington Post: Trump has profited from foreign labor he says is killing U.S. jobs
  • NYT: Since 2010, Trump’s Mar-a-Lago has pursued more than 500 visas for foreign workers and hired only 17 American workers, “while hundreds of domestic applicants failed to get the same jobs.”
  • Buzzfeed: Even since launching his presidential campaign, Trump “has sought and won permission from the Department of Labor to hire at least 186 foreign guest workers for jobs at his resorts, golf courses, and vineyards in New York, Florida, and Virginia.”
  • Reuters: Donald Trump's companies have sought visas to hire at least 1,100 workers from abroad.
We can see how time consuming multiple bankruptcies and scamming small businesses must be, but really Donald, this is a pretty glaring oversight. It didn’t take us long to find over 100 examples of U.S. manufacturers and businesses ready and able to produce the same goods he makes overseas.

See below for just a few examples of the many American businesses Donald missed.
