Tenenbaum Endorses Clinton Highlighting Her Advocacy for Children and Families

In another sign of South Carolina Democrats uniting behind Hillary Clinton, former Chairman of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission and South Carolina State Superintendent of Education Inez Tenenbaum endorsed Hillary Clinton, citing her lifelong record of advocating of children and families:

“From her work at the Children’s Defense Fund here in South Carolina to her services as a Senator, Hillary Clinton has been a tireless advocate for children and families. To continue to improve the quality of education for our students in South Carolina and throughout the nation, we need someone who will champion our public schools and make smart investments in our children, starting with our youngest learners. Hillary has the passion, commitment, and courage to take action and get results for our students, teachers, and communities — especially as we address many of the challenging issues facing children and their families like poverty, lack of opportunity, and violence.”

Former Chairman Tenenbaum served as the ninth Chairman of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) from 2009 to 2013 and transformed CPSC into one of the leading product safety agencies in the world. Ms. Tenenbaum was elected South Carolina’s State Superintendent of Education in 1998 and completed her second term in 2007. During her tenure as South Carolina’s State Superintendent of Education, student achievement in South Carolina improved at the fastest rate in the nation.
