Hillary for America Announces State Leadership Council for Kansas

Hillary for America announced the launch of its “Kansas Leadership Council”– a group of over 30 elected officials, community, coalition and grassroots leaders who will the grassroots-driven team that will help Hillary Clinton win the Kansas Caucuses on March 5th. Clinton’s Kansas campaign will be led by former Governor John Carlin, members of the Democratic Legislature, and many others.

Leadership Council members share Clinton’s commitment to raising wages for the middle class, strengthening our nation’s infrastructure to create good-paying jobs, defending and enhancing the Affordable Care Act, protecting people’s right to vote, reforming the criminal justice system and ensuring that costs are not a barrier for students going to college and much more. “Since day 1 of her campaign, Hillary Clinton has been laying out bold policy proposals like her comprehensive infrastructure plan that will create good-paying jobs and meet a real need,” said former Governor John Carlin. “Hillary is the candidate we need as our next president, and I’m ready to help lead her efforts in Kansas.”

"I am proud to serve on Hillary For America's Kansas Leadership Council because I believe that electing Hillary Clinton will ensure that women and girls across our country have the ability to live up to their full potential," said Kansas State Representative Carolyn Bridges of Wichita. "Whether it’s supporting women’s access to health care, paid family leave, equal pay for equal work, or fighting to end women gender-based violence, she's exemplified strong leadership. There’s no question she has the determination to get things done, and I think we need a leader who will bring people together, work across party lines, and bring women's rights into the 21st century."

"Hillary Clinton has a tall order when it comes to reforming Washington: ending the era of mass incarceration, reforming policing practices and investing in universal pre-K, great public schools, good housing, and livable wage-paying jobs. She is committed to helping everyday Americans lift up their communities and that is why I am thrilled to serve on her team in Kansas, " said Steven Wright, Chair of the Kansas Democratic Party’s African American Caucus. "As the Chair of the KDP African American Caucus, I believe that every American deserves an equal opportunity to achieve the American dream and I am thrilled to support a presidential candidate that believes the same."

“As the former Chair of the Democratic party here in Kansas, I know what kind of leadership it takes to bring a community of Democrats together in a red state. Hillary Clinton embodies the kind of leadership we need in our party--leadership that will unite and not divide us, leadership that will get passed gridlock in Washington and deliver real results," said Joan Wagnon, Former Chair of the Kansas Democratic Party. "Hillary's dedication to earn each vote and to really listen to voters' needs, not just the big ticket issues, is what I believe will make her an incredible President."

Over the course of the campaign, the Kansas Leadership Council will continue to expand.
