Clinton Campaign Launches Nevada African Americans for Hillary

Las Vegas, NV — Today, the Hillary for Nevada campaign unveiled the founding members of Nevada African Americans for Hillary, a group of local supporters who are leaders from political, businesses, and civic groups in Nevada.

“Hillary knows that race still plays a significant role in determining who succeeds in America, and she is fighting to break down those barriers,” said State Senate Democratic Leader Aaron D. Ford. “African Americans unfairly earn considerably less at work, and they inequitably face considerably more hardships in educational advancement. Moreover, African Americans are more likely to be improperly stopped by police, charged with a crime, and given longer prison sentences when convicted. We strongly believe that Hillary will be the tireless fighter African Americans need in the White House to address racial inequality and drive us toward justice.”

Members of Nevada African Americans for Hillary are playing a critical role in supporting the campaign: Aaron Ford has signed up to serve as a precinct captain, working to organize voters to attend the February 20th Nevada caucus; Thelma Hall was the first volunteer for Hillary for Nevada to organize phone banks to reach out to voters in North Las Vegas and the surrounding community; and Derek Washington has organized unique outreach events like Poetry Slams at local small businesses.
