NEW HILLARY CLINTON COMIC BOOK COVERS POLITICAL YEARS; BERNIE SANDERS COMIC BOOK COMING SOON

Portland, Oregon – In honor of the start of the presidential primary season, Bluewater Productions announced today the release of an all new biography featuring political powerhouse Hillary Clinton titled “Female Force: Hillary Clinton: The Road to the White House.”

The comic book is described: As the country prepares itself for the 2016 presidential elections, former Secretary of State Hillary Rodham Clinton decides to make a second attempt to become the nation's first female President. Can she run on her record? Her likability? And how will lingering questions about Benghazi and her email inform her choice?

Since, 2008, Bluewater’s publishing line has been addressing current events and releasing entertaining biographies of the men and women vying to become America’s next leaders, a fact which makes publisher and President Darren G. Davis proud. “Reluctant readers gravitate to comic books. The dynamic art and narratives draw readers in. It’s my hope we reach kids, empowering them to become lifelong readers,” said Davis. “I have guest taught in schools and found comicbooks to be an excellent way to reach children and young adults.” Davis also added that understanding the realm of politics may seem daunting to some. “These informative and entertaining books should teach readers about the candidates. Comic books have grown up; they’re not just for kids anymore.”  Past subjects have included Michelle Bachmann, Barack Obama, Herman Cain, The Tea Party Movement, Mitt Romney, Sarah Palin and more.

Bluewater’s political slate for 2015/2016 will include those that announce their intentions to run for the presidency as well as those whose power influence the voting public’s choices for leaders.  Titles scheduled for later this year include biographies of Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, Elizabeth Warren, and more.  They have already published biographies on potential 2016 candidates like Chris Christie, Joe Biden, and others.

Hillary Clinton has proven a popular subject for the publisher as this is the third comic to feature the politician.

Writer Michael Frizell, an educator at Missouri State University and freelance writer, thinks Mrs. Clinton’s life story is perfect for the line. “She’s a fascinating person,” said Frizell. “As a writer, I am drawn to powerful personalities. At times, she can be divisive, which makes her fun to write.” Understanding the impact such a book might have, Frizell added, “The research I needed to conduct was rigorous, as was the writing process. I needed to think like a storyteller and notate like a reporter. The storytelling aspects inherent in creative nonfiction make comic books about real people a challenge.”

Artist Joe Paradise, a graphic designer famed for his work drawing biography comics depicting the Dead Kennedys, Elvis Presley, Joan Jett and the Runaways, and more with publisher Revolutionary Comics in the mid-1990’s, found inspiration in the storytelling aspects. “I think the framing device of the board room is brilliant here,” said Paradise. “It's the glue holding the scenes together, but it also gives the reader an idea what it might be like behind the scenes at Ready For Hillary 2016. I think readers will find that aspect of the story as interesting as we on the creative team do.”

“Creating a comic book is a collaborative business, and Joe’s work leaps off the page,” said Frizell. “With creative nonfiction, you can’t make it up. As the creative team, it’s imperative that we tell a story that resonates while appealing to all readers. Our job is to find the truth in a moment and dramatize it in a way that brings our readers along for the ride.” Paradise continued, “This was a great issue to draw because there are so many kinds of environments and a lot of action, and we drop you right into it on page one. “

“As a writer,” Frizell, added, “I appreciate Bluewater’s mandate that we stay nonpartisan and simply tell engaging stories. Publisher Davis makes this a great place to create.” Paradise agreed, “I am very excited to be working with Bluewater on this project as it combines my two great passions and favorite newspaper sections: comics and politics.”

Print copies of “Female Force: Hillary Clinton: The Road to the White House” start at $3.99 and can be ordered on Amazon and Ingram via their website.  In August Bluewater will also be releasing a comic book on the life and politics of Bernie Sanders as part of their "Political Power" series.
