Gov. Huckabee responds to news that Hillary Clinton turns over personal server to Justice Department

Huckabee: "Hillary's reckless actions put lives at risk. She must be investigated, questioned and held accountable."

Little Rock, Ark. - Former Arkansas governor and 2016 Republican presidential candidate Mike Huckabee issued the following statement in light of news that Hillary Clinton has directed her aides to turn over her personal e-mail server to the Justice Department:

"The fact that Hillary Clinton sent 'Top Secret' information from her personal email address is beyond outrageously illegal, it's life-threatening to members of our military and every American citizen.  The same action, for anyone else serving in the military, would mean a court-martial and a prison sentence.

But Hillary wants a promotion? That's offensive.

General David Petraeus was prosecuted for sharing 'Classified Information.' This new report shows that as Secretary of State, Hillary shared 'Top Secret' documents - which is more dangerous and deserves a higher the level of scrutiny.

In America, no one is above the law, not even the Secretary of State. Hillary's reckless actions put lives at risk. She must be investigated, questioned and held accountable."

Jindal: Clinton Should Be Held To Same Standard as Members Of Military, Intel Community For Reckless Use of Classified Email

IOWA CITY – At a town hall this evening in Iowa City, Iowa, Governor Jindal said Secretary Clinton should be held to the same standards as members of the military and intelligence community who would be subject to potential jail time for handling top-secret information on a personal server.

Governor Jindal asked for a show of hands of veterans and active military members in the audience, and asked them what would happen to them if they were as reckless as Secretary Clinton with classified information. Audience members yelled out “prison” and “Leavenworth.”

TRANSCRIPT:

Gov. Jindal said, "I've got a question for all of you today. How many of you have currently or previously served in any branch of our military?

“I want to thank you for your service. But I want to ask you this one question.

“When you were serving...if you had been this reckless with classified information and our nation’s secrets, what would've happened to you?

“Do you think you would've gotten a promotion?

“Do you think you would've said ‘what difference does it make?’

Well no. And here Hillary Clinton wants to be our Commander-In-Chief. I don't know about you, but I think that the General and the Private should follow the same rules and the same laws."

Jindal: Clinton and Kerry’s email negligence has surrendered our national security

DES MOINES, IOWA – Following Secretary of State John Kerry's admission that the Chinese and Russian Governments may be reading his emails, and his admission that he writes his emails assuming that foreign governments are reading them, Governor Bobby Jindal released the following statement:

"Maybe that’s why we got such a bad deal from the Iranians - were the Chinese and Russians feeding them Secretary Kerry’s emails during the negotiations?

“The gross negligence of this administration is breathtaking. Obama’s first Secretary of State was keeping Top Secret emails on her home server and his second can’t keep his emails from being read by foreign governments. It is stunning to hear our top government officials admit to such ineptitude and incompetence.

"Hillary Clinton and John Kerry need to explain why they think that they can surrender our national security to our enemies and not face any consequences.

“If ordinary members of our armed forces took home top secret documents or leaked information to a foreign Government, they would be brought before a court martial."

Senator Rand Paul Statement
 On Hillary Clinton
WASHINGTON, D.C.- Sen. Rand Paul released the following statement on the seizure of Hillary Clinton's private email server by the FBI:

"Hillary Clinton proves time and again that she believes she's above the law. She should have followed laws barring her from using a private email and she should have turned over the server a long time ago. Can Hillary be trusted when it's one investigation after another? I think not."

Statement by Gov. Perry On New Clinton Email Revelations

AUSTIN – Today Governor Rick Perry released the following statement after reports emerged that the FBI took possession of thumb drives and servers containing Secretary Clinton’s emails during her tenure as Secretary of State:

“It’s no surprise that after her disastrous tenure at the State Department, Secretary Clinton continues to try to hide the evidence of her failed leadership from the American people. Leadership is not about convenience – it’s about judgement and character. Secretary Clinton continues to prove she has neither.”

Santorum responds to Clinton email scandal developments

VERONA, PA - Republican presidential candidate and former U.S. Senator Rick Santorum (R-PA) issued the following statement in response to further developments in the Clinton email scandal.

Rick Santorum said: "America is getting a reminder of what a Clinton presidency would look like.  To the Clintons, this is all about politics with no accountability.  But this is not a vast right wing conspiracy.  Secretary Clinton has a great deal of explaining to do and thus far she has settled absolutely nothing with her string of excuses and shifting of blame.  While Hillary Clinton clearly believes she is above the law, the Obama Administration has proven it has no interest in enforcing the law.  Congress needs to utilize its role as an oversight body to get down to the bottom of this scandal because I have little faith the Obama Justice Department will hold the Secretary or any of her staff accountable for their actions."

RNC Statement on Hillary Clinton Turning Over Her Private Email Server to FBI

WASHINGTON– Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement on the seizure of Hillary Clinton's private email server:

"If Hillary Clinton believed in honesty and transparency, she would have turned over her secret server months ago to an independent arbiter, not as a last resort and to the Obama Justice Department.

"Of course, if she really cares about transparency, she would never have had a secret server in the first place.

"All this means is that Hillary Clinton, in the face of FBI scrutiny, has decided she has run out of options. She knows she did something wrong and has run out of ways to cover it up.

"The majority of Americans don't trust her, and they're right. She put our national security at risk for selfish reasons. She couldn't be trusted at the State Department; she certainly can't be trusted in the Oval Office."

Gowdy Statement on Secretary Clinton’s Decision to Turn over Server to the Department of Justice

Washington, DC— Select Committee on Benghazi Chairman Trey Gowdy issued the following statement after former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton turned over the personal home server she used to conduct official United States foreign policy and several thumb drives reportedly containing emails with compartmented classified intelligence that she had turned over to her personal attorney:

“For months the Select Committee on Benghazi has called on Secretary Clinton to turn over her server to a neutral, detached third party for independent forensic examination. She refused every entreat. Secretary Clinton said she created this unusual email arrangement with herself for "convenience." It may have been convenient for her, but it has been troubling at multiple levels for the rest of the country. Congress, the media, the public, private litigants and FOIA requestors were denied access to public documents, and recently the Inspectors General for two separate Executive Branch entities expressed concern about the possible exposure of classified material as a direct result of her decision to eschew the email rules applicable to everyone else and create her own.

“The IC Inspector General revealed Secretary Clinton’s emails and server contained not just ‘top secret’ classified information, but 'compartmented' classified intelligence not releasable to foreigners, which must be noted in the timing of this announcement.

“Both the ICIG and the State Department IG were nominated by President Barack Obama and confirmed by the Senate when it was controlled by Democrats. Secretary Clinton's decision to prioritize her own convenience - and desire for control - over the security of our country's intelligence should concern all people of good conscience. This is a serious national security issue, and the seriousness of it should transcend normal, partisan politics.

“The revelation that Secretary Clinton exclusively used private email for official public business, and the multitude of issues that emanated from her decision, including this most recent one, demonstrates what can happen when Congress and those equally committed to exposing the truth, doggedly pursue facts and follow them.”
