Sadler says, "The best way to get both parties together is, to use that old phrase, 'Let Them Eat Cake.'" Specifically, the company's unique twist on its Diplomacy Cakes.

Crumbzz, a provider of artisan crumb cakes has been shipping its gift cakes around the world for several years, but in 2004, the company came up with a unique idea called Diplomacy Cakes.

The idea came from a customer's request to send cakes to her two feuding brothers. The twist… each cake would be accompanied by identical messages and the message would make it look like the cake was coming from the feuding sibling. The message asked forgiveness and suggested that the brothers get together to discuss their differences.

From that initial order was born the company's Diplomacy Cakes program. You see Sadler didn't just send his Diplomacy Cakes to his customers; he also started sending Diplomacy Cakes to famous people worldwide. People who "needed a bit of diplomacy" as Sadler saw it.

President Obama has been the lucky recipient of one, as has House Speaker John Boehner, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell and House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. Even Vladimir Putin and Petro Poroshenko have received cakes.

Corporate America, Hollywood and the sports world is also represented by Apple's Steve Jobs, Microsoft's Steve Ballmer, Roger Ailes and Gretchen Carlson of Fox News, Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant, Charlie Sheen and Chuck Lorre, to name just a few.

Although Sadler's company handles hundreds of private Diplomacy Cake orders each year with little or no publicity, the public Diplomacy Cakes always generate the most interest. "We always get emails and letters from people who think it's a great idea and those who think we're crazy." We've also gotten some wonderful letters from folks, thanking us for helping to break the ice," says Sadler.

"There may be disagreements that can't be bridged, but everyone loves homemade crumb cake and if you can get warring parties sharing in even one thing, that's a start."

And that brings us to Hillary and Donald who get their Diplomacy Cakes this week. It may not get results, but we're sure the candidates will chuckle at the cards that Sadler included.
