The Time July 2, 2018 cover "Welcome to America" prompted a fair bit of discussion.  It is a powerful image, showing in the words of CNN's Chris Cilizza "the administration's decided lack of compassion."  However in an essay on Vox, Kainaz Amaria, "a photojournalist, a visuals editor, and an immigrant, argues that the cover amounted to "misuse of Moore's original image" and that the image itself "should have been enough."  Additionally, further research showed that the girl in the photo was not separated from her mother.  See:
Time Staff.  "The Story Behind TIME' Trump 'Welcome to America,' Cover,  Time, June 21, 2018.
Chris Cilizza. "Why the Trump Time magazine cover is so powerful."  CNN, June 21, 2018.

Kainaz Amaria.  "Time magazine’s cover isn’t bold or brave. It’s exploitative."  Vox, June 21, 2018.

The covers above are organized in rough chronological order.  Issue dates on the covers of magazines correlate only loosely with the dates magazines actually appear; there is a lot of variation.  For example the Sept./Oct. 2017 issue Mother Jones was on newsstands by Aug. 16.

These are copyrighted images held by the respective magazines/photographers and artists and reprinted according to my understanding of fair use.
