NEW #ASKCLE HASHTAG TO MONITOR VISITOR INQUIRIES DURING THE RNC

CLEVELAND (JULY 15, 2016) - DESTINATION CLEVELAND, THE CONVENTION AND VISITORS BUREAU OF GREATER CLEVELAND, LAUNCHED A NEW HASHTAG, #ASKCLE, TO BE USED BY VISITORS SEEKING A TIMELY RESPONSE TO QUESTIONS ABOUT EVENTS, ATTRACTIONS AND HOT SPOTS WHILE IN TOWN FOR THE REPUBLICAN NATIONAL CONVENTION. THE HASHTAG, IN ADDITION TO #THISISCLE AND OTHER KEYWORDS FREQUENTLY USED WHILE TRAVELING, WILL BE MONITORED BY A TEAM OF SOCIAL MEDIA EXPERTS AND VOLUNTEERS AT THE #ASKCLE SOCIAL MEDIA HQ.

The #AskCLE social media team will serve as a socially driven online concierge service for visitors and will gather information, monitor key hashtags and accounts, and engage in real-time Convention-related social conversation before, during and after the Convention. Team members will help identify visitor inquiries and respond using content resource guides or by directing questions to Destination Cleveland's CLE Concierge team or other predetermined experts.

"It's important that we keep visitors updated as much as possible so they can feel empowered on their journey throughout the city," said Colette Jones, vice president of marketing, Destination Cleveland. "We take very seriously the role we play in providing visitors with timely and accurate information that will help them explore our region and have a truly authentic Northeast Ohio experience."

The team will also be tasked with producing and publishing content across a variety of social platforms including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, Snapchat, Vine, YouTube, Periscope and Pinterest. Additionally, content will be shared with visitors passing by the command center via public-facing monitors that will showcase Convention conversation and further promote the Destination Cleveland brand.

The #AskCLE Social Media HQ is one of several marketing and communications efforts led by Destination Cleveland on behalf of the Cleveland 2016 Host Committee.  The social media monitoring and response effort was also supported by the Host Committee's Digital Tools Sub-committee, co-chaired by Jason Therrien, president and CEO of Thunder::tech, and Mike Conley, vice president of digital for the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The headquarters, located at 313 Euclid Ave., opened today at 12 p.m. and will remain open until 8 p.m. Friday, July 22.

Destination Cleveland would like to thank Citizens Bank for donating the space and is grateful for the outstanding support and resources provided by so many local businesses and partners including, Thunder::tech, Donley's, Crescent Digital, Vocon. and Salesforce.
