WASHINGTON — Committee on Arrangements (COA) Chairman Steve King announced today the appointments of Marcia Kelly as Director of Operations, Julie Shugar as Director of Media Operations, Jan Sumrall as Director of Administration, and Caroline Davidson as Operations Team Manager for the 2016 Republican National Convention.

“It is truly a delight to announce the newest team members to our Committee on Arrangements,” said Chairman King. “The depth of experience this rapidly growing team brings to the Committee will ensure that Cleveland experiences a National Convention that is second to none.”

Marcia Lee Kelly, the Director of Operations, consulted on 2008, and 2012 Republican National Conventions. Most recently she was the Chief Advancement Officer for Trinity Law School. Previously she was the Director of the Mercy Health System Foundation in Wisconsin, the Chief Development Officer for the Riverfront in LaCrosse, Wisconsin, and has held various roles for the New York City Mayor’s office. “Marcia knows what it takes to put together an event like the National Convention,” said Convention CEO Jeff Larson. “Her expertise at managing logistics will ensure that the Convention goes off without a hitch.”

Julie Perrier Shugar, the Director of Media Operations, has worked on the 1988, 1992, 2004, 2008, and 2012 Republican Conventions. A graduate of Louisiana State University, she has also worked for the House of Representatives, and the Republican National Committee. “Julie understands the intricacies of running a transparent Convention,” said Convention CEO Jeff Larson. “I am confident that her knowledge of Conventions will allow us to have the greatest National Convention to date.”

Jan McBride Sumrall, the Director of Administration, is a veteran of the 2000, 2004, and 2008 Republican National Conventions. A graduate of Louisiana State University, she has also worked for non-profit groups, the National Republican Senatorial Committee and the Louisiana Secretary of State. “Jan knows what it takes to put on a National Convention,” said Convention CEO Jeff Larson. “Her past experiences set us up to have a Convention like no other.”

Caroline Davidson, the Operations Team Manager, most recently worked for the National Republican Senatorial Committee (NRSC) where she worked for the Independent Expenditure unit during the 2014 cycle. Previously she worked for the International Republican Institute and volunteered in 2012 at the Convention in Tampa and the Republican National Committee. She is a graduate of Auburn University and a native of Atlanta, Georgia. “Caroline understands how important a well-run Convention is,” said Convention CEO Jeff Larson. “A tireless worker, she will be an indispensable member of the team.”
