RNC Announces Sergeant-at-Arms For Republican National Convention

WASHINGTON – Today the Republican National Committee (RNC) announced that John Frey, National Committeeman from Connecticut, Bruce Hough, National Committeeman from Utah, and Shawn Steel, National Committeeman from California, will each serve as a Sergeant-at-Arms for the 2016 Republican National Convention in Cleveland, Ohio.

“I’m excited to have John, Bruce, and Shawn all serving as the Sergeant-at-Arms for our Convention,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus. “Each of them are distinguished for their service as National Committeemen, and they are going to bring the same spirit of leadership into Cleveland that will help ensure an orderly and well-run Convention.”

The Sergeant-at-Arms is responsible for the maintenance of order at the Convention.

John Frey has served as a Committeeman for the Connecticut Republican State Central Committee since 2000, and has served in various roles in the Connecticut Republican Party since the 1980s.

Bruce Hough has served two terms as Chairman of the Utah Republican Party and has been a member of the Republican National Committee for nearly 12 years.

Shawn Steel has served as a National Committeeman at the RNC since 2008 and has been involved with the Republican Party in California since the 1960s.
