U.S. Senator Mike Rounds endorses Huckabee for President

Former two-term governor and current U.S. Senator from South Dakota is second U.S. Senator to endorse Huckabee

LITTLE ROCK, Ark.- Former Arkansas Governor and 2016 GOP presidential candidate Mike Huckabee announced the endorsement of former two-term governor and current U.S. Senator Mike Rounds (R-SD) for his campaign for president. Sen. Mike Rounds joins Sen. John Boozman (R-AR) as the second U.S. Senator to endorse Gov. Huckabee.

In a statement, Sen. Rounds said: "Gov. Mike Huckabee has the right combination of executive experience, electability and conservative convictions we need to take back the White House and take America from Hope to Higher Ground. Mike Huckabee and I became friends when we were both governors, and I watched him defeat the Clinton machine, cut taxes and welfare, balance the budget 10 years straight, and raise average family income 50% - despite facing the most Democrat legislature in the country. He'll make a great president for the same reasons he was a great governor - he knows how to lead and solve big problems."

"Sen. Mike Rounds is a dear friend and principled patriot, and I'm honored to have the endorsement of a leader who has done such a tremendous job fighting for common sense in South Dakota and across the country," Gov. Huckabee said.

About Sen. Mike Rounds: Sen. Mike Rounds serves on four committees: Senate Armed Services; Banking, Housing and Urban Affairs; Veterans' Affairs and Environment and Public Works. Rounds previously served as the 31st governor of South Dakota from 2003 - 2011.
