Priorities USA is releasing a new television ad today called “Captured” featuring Lieutenant Joe Kernan (Ret.), a naval officer who was shot down over Vietnam and spent 11 months in a POW camp. Like so many Americans, Kernan was outraged over Donald Trump’s attacks on John McCain’s service. During the Vietnam War more than 2,200 Navy and Airforce aircraft were lost in combat with more than 1,000 pilots and crew being killed. In that same time, nearly 500 Navy and Airforce service members were taken prisoner.

In the ad, Lieutenant Kernan emphasizes just how dangerous a Trump presidency would be: “What Donald Trump said about members of the military being captured is a disgrace…Donald Trump doesn’t understand the weight of sending Americans into harm’s way…he’s unfit to be president.”
