IFPTE Endorses Hillary Clinton for President
Union calls her "solidly in the corner
of working Americans"
ATLANTIC CITY, NJ – During their Spring Executive Council meeting in
Atlantic City, New Jersey, the International Federation of Professional
and Technical Engineers (IFPTE), an AFL-CIO affiliated labor union
representing public, private and federal sector workers, has given
their backing to Hillary Clinton for President of the United States.
IFPTE’s two top officers commented on the endorsement:
IFPTE President Gregory Junemann:
“IFPTE is pleased to lend our union’s support to Secretary Clinton to
lead our nation. She is impeccably qualified, having not only served as
First Lady for eight years, but also serving in the United States
Senate and as Secretary of State. She has a track record of
accomplishments and of working across the aisle during her time in the
Senate. She is also solidly in the corner of working Americans, as is
reflected in her opposition to the damaging Trans-Pacific Partnership,
and her strong support for collective bargaining rights. IFPTE looks
forward to working with her.”
IFPTE Secretary-Treasurer Paul Shearon:
"Throughout this campaign Secretary Clinton has clearly articulated her
strong support for preserving collective bargaining rights, and for
advocating for legislation geared toward reforming our labor laws in a
way that allow workers the ability to form unions absent employer
intimidation. IFPTE looks forward to working with her Administration in
this endeavor, as workers in the private sector are fired, harassed and
threatened each and every day for the activity of considering to vote
for union representation. Secretary Clinton will work to correct these
inequities as President, and IFPTE is proud to support her.”
IFPTE represents upwards of 90,000 workers in the United States and
Canada.
