Roofers and Waterproofers Union Endorses

Hillary Rodham Clinton for President

Washington, DC—The Executive Board of the United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers voted overwhelmingly to endorse former Secretary of State, U.S. Senator and First Lady Hillary Rodham Clinton for President of the United States.

“We believe Hillary Clinton is the most experienced candidate in the race for the office of President of the United States,” said Roofers and Waterproofers International President Kinsey M. Robinson. “She has proven herself as a United States Senator, a skilled diplomat and a person who understands the needs of working families. She is committed to American jobs through rebuilding our country and she supports power generation, including nuclear and natural gas. After weighing the options, we believe Hillary Clinton has the most solid plan for lifting our economy and creating good jobs—and policies that work—for the American people.”

“Our members want a President who places a high value on labor, on what we bring not only to the job, but to the economy and to our communities. They want a President who wants to resurrect the American dream where hard work and fair play is rewarded with decent wages and a secure future for their families. I am totally confident that Hillary Clinton will be that President.”

Hillary Clinton Statement on Endorsement from United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers

Hillary Clinton released the following statement after the United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers endorsed her campaign for President. The Roofters and Waterproofers join American Federation of Teachers, the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers, and the International Union of Bricklayers and Allied Craftworkers and the United Association of Journeymen and Apprentices of the Plumbing and Pipefitting Industry in backing Clinton.

“I am honored to receive the endorsement of the brothers and sisters of the United Union of Roofers, Waterproofers and Allied Workers.

“The Roofers and Waterproofers Union has helped build the mighty American middle class for decades, creating good-paying jobs and careers and protecting workers' rights across the country. They have stood strong against repeated broadsides from Republicans and their corporate allies, who have sought to roll back the hard-won progress we've achieved for American workers and families.

“I have always stood with organized labor, and I will stand with the Roofers and Waterproofers Union as President. I will fight every day to protect and expand workers' rights to organize and bargain collectively, to retire with security and dignity after years of hard work, and to maintain prevailing wage and labor standards. I'm proud that the Roofers and Waterproofers Union will join me in fighting to make America work for people again.”
