RELEASE: TERRY MICHAEL JOINS JOHNSON WELD 2016 AS SR. MEDIA ADVISOR

August 29, 2016, Salt Lake City, UT -- Johnson Weld 2016 announced today that Terry Michael has joined their campaign team as Senior Media Advisor.

Michael is a former press secretary for the Democratic National Committee (1983-87.) He founded and has directed for the past 27 years the Washington Center for Politics & Journalism. The Center taught GenX and Millennial aspiring political journalists about "real world" politics, with its Politics & Journalism Semester program, from 1989 to 2015. www.wcpj.org

During his years as DNC press secretary, Michael wrote the news release in February 1987 announcing creation of the Commission on Presidential Debates (CPD) by DNC and RNC Chairmen Paul Kirk and Frank Fahrenkopf.  The CPD has sponsored all presidential and vice presidential debates since 1988, and will determine if Governors Gary Johnson and Bill Weld will be invited to participate in the 2016 debates.

"Terry Michael brings decades of journalism and political experience to our campaign," Ron Nielson, JohnsonWeld 2016 campaign manager said. "As Nick Gillespie, editor-in-chief of Reason.com, has said, Michael is ‘quite possibly the original self-described libertarian Democrat.'"

Michael will assist in developing mainstream media strategy for the campaign and will be available for interviews.
