FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ENDORSEMENT

NEW HAMPSHIRE’S BELKNAP COUNTY SHERIFF CRAIG WIGGIN THINKS JOHN KASICH SHOULD BE THE NEXT PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES

Today New Hampshire’s Belknap County Sheriff Craig Wiggin endorsed Ohio Gov. John Kasich for President, praising his national security experience and proven ability to turn around and strengthen Ohio’s economy.  Strengthening America’s economy is essential to being able to make the investments necessary to achieve Kasich’s goal of restoring America’s military strength.

“John Kasich’s national security policy experience is deep, and when we’re facing the growing threat of terrorism here at home, as well as an increasingly dangerous world, we need a leader who can hit the ground running as commander-in-chief.  He’s that leader, particularly because he understands how economic growth and military strength are related.  He’s jump-started Ohio’s economy and strengthened his state and he can help jump-start America’s economy as well so America can be stronger and safer.  I’m proud to put my support behind electing him President,” said Wiggin.

Sheriff Wiggin served for 21 years in the New Hampshire State Police, was appointed Sheriff in 2007 and has since been elected to two terms.  He serves on a number of boards and commissions, including the Governor’s Advisory Council for Homeland Security and Preparedness, the Homeland Security Grant Review Committee, and the E 9-1-1 Commission.

“Sheriff Wiggin is a committed public servant with a deep knowledge of what it takes to keep our communities safe.  I appreciate his support very much and am glad to have him part of our team,” said Kasich.

Gov. Kasich is running for President to help Americans restore our nation, live in safety and pass on prosperity to those who come after us—and he’s got the experience to help us do it. He was reelected last year by a 30-point margin after working with his fellow Ohioans to turn an $8 billion shortfall into a $2 billion surplus, cut taxes $5 billion and create 350,000 jobs.  As chair of the Budget Committee in Congress he led the effort to balance the federal budget for the first time in a generation and served 18 years on the House Armed Services Committee where he helped enact President Reagan's national security agenda.  He has also had a successful career as an investment banker, New York Times best-selling author and at FOX News.  He and his wife Karen have twin teenage daughters and live in their home outside Columbus.
