SUBJECT: NEW HAMPSHIRE UPDATE
TO: KFA TEAM
FROM: JOHN WEAVER – Chief Strategist

New Hampshire Overview:
Governor Kasich remains extremely well-positioned in New Hampshire – better positioned than most winning campaigns over the past twenty years.

Unprecedented team: Governor Kasich has an outstanding organization led by Senator John E. Sununu. No one knows New Hampshire grassroots organizing, voter turnout and persuasion, and a winning message in the state better than the Senator.  The strength of the Governor’s organization was on full display during his most recent trip when former Senator Gordon Humphrey, a conservative icon in the state, endorsed the Governor.

Finally, it is important to remember that this is a leadership team that has succeeded before in New Hampshire under John McCain, George Bush and Mitt Romney.

Governor Kasich also has New Hampshire stalwarts Tom Rath, Ruth Griffin, State Senator David Boutin, Majority Leader Flanagan, and many others on his team. The Governor is putting together an unprecedented team in New Hampshire that reaches across the Republican Party and includes conservatives, business leaders, establishment leaders, grassroots leaders and others. It is a coalition that leads to outstanding results.

Foundation for success: Public polling will continue to bounce around in a volatile race. It is important to note that the Governor continues to have among the highest favorability ratings in the state. He is in a far better position than Jeb Bush, who has extremely high negatives in all the early states, making his nomination doubtful. It is also why we see Bush doing significant opposition research on Governor Kasich.  Further, New Day for America remains competitive with Bush’s super PAC in advertising spending in New Hampshire.  Governor Kasich continues to be in one of the best positions to lead in New Hampshire based on his grassroots organization and the underlying fundamentals of how voters view him and his record.

Conclusion: Since announcing just over two months ago Governor Kasich has moved into the top tier in New Hampshire and has laid the foundation to succeed in the state. He is in a better position fundamentally than Jeb Bush and our other competitors to succeed in New Hampshire when voters start voting. We must remain focused on building our grassroots team in New Hampshire, driving the Governor’s message, and having the resources to succeed.
