FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

ENDORSEMENT: FORMER STATE REPRESENTATIVE JIL TRACY AND COMMISSIONER JOSEPH MOHOROVIC JOIN KASICH FOR AMERICA’S ILLINOIS TEAM

Today the Kasich for America campaign announced the addition of former State Representative Jil Tracy and Joseph Mohorovic, Commissioner of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, to the group of Illinois officials that has endorsed Governor John Kasich for President.

Tracy and Mohorovic, who will serve as state co-chairs, join State Senate Republican Leader Christine Radogno and seventeen other officeholders and party officials in supporting Governor Kasich's candidacy.

"Governor Kasich's leadership in Ohio really paid off for his state, and other Midwestern states have taken notice," said Tracy. "He dug Ohio out of a deep fiscal hole without raising taxes and created a positive environment for investment and job creation again. He led the effort to pass the first balanced federal budget in a generation, and he can do it again. Illinois voters are looking for a leader with a record of results, and I'm confident that Governor Kasich is that leader."

Tracy represented Illinois' 94th House District from 2006 to 2015. She also served as Illinois Assistant Attorney General and Director of the West Central Regional Office under Attorneys General Jim Ryan and Lisa Madigan.

Mohorovic said, “As a federal commissioner, I see firsthand how regulations can go too far – suffocating job creators in red tape. It’s a highly competitive global economy and our federal regulatory system is putting the United States at an international competitive disadvantage.  As Governor of Ohio, John Kasich knows that states compete aggressively for the good, high-paying jobs that businesses relocating or setting up new operations bring. The regulatory climate is a critical factor in that decision. As president, John Kasich will restore American competitiveness by instilling transparency, accountability, and common-sense to a federal regulatory bureaucracy run amok.”

Mohorovic was sworn in as Commissioner of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commissioner in 2014. He previously served as Senior Vice President of Intertek and as State Representative for New Mexico's 28th District for two terms. In 2000, Governor Kasich invited Mohorovic to serve as the New Mexico representative to the newly formed New Century Project.

Said Kasich, "It's a pleasure to welcome Representative Jil Tracy and Joseph Mohorovic to the team. I'm grateful for their support and their willingness to share the insights they've gleaned from years of public service. It's exciting to see our network of supporters in Illinois grow broader and stronger every day."

Gov. Kasich is running for President to help Americans restore our nation, live in safety and pass on prosperity to those who come after us—and he’s got the experience to help us do it. He was reelected last year by a 30-point margin after working with his fellow Ohioans to turn an $8 billion shortfall into a $2 billion surplus, cut taxes $5 billion and create more than 300,000 new private sector jobs.  As chair of the Budget Committee in Congress he led the effort to balance the federal budget for the first time in a generation and served 18 years on the House Armed Services Committee where he helped enact President Reagan's national security agenda.  He has also had a successful career as an investment banker, New York Times best-selling author and at FOX News.  He and his wife Karen have twin teenage daughters and live in their home outside Columbus. You can learn more about him at www.JohnKasich.com
