Larry Lessig Hits $1 Million Fundraising Benchmark, Plans to Announce His Campaign for President at Historic New Hampshire Site

On Wednesday, September 9th, Larry Lessig will travel to Claremont, New Hampshire, where he will officially announce his bid for the White House. The announcement follows Lessig’s success in raising $1 million by Labor Day to kick-start and crowd-fund his run as this country’s first referendum candidate for President.

WHO:      Larry Lessig, Democratic Candidate for President

WHAT:    Presidential Campaign Announcement

WHERE:  67 Maple Avenue, Claremont NH 03743

WHEN:    NOON EDT, Wednesday, September 9, 2015

Lessig’s announcement will take place at a site chosen for its historical significance to the issue of money in politics. In 1995, Claremont hosted a town meeting where President Bill Clinton and House Speaker Newt Gingrich agreed to form a bipartisan commission to address the problem of campaign finance reform. Twenty years later, their pledge has not been realized.

“I am inspired by the American citizens that have rallied to my side to put equality at the center of the 2016 Presidential debate,” said Lessig who will officially declare on Wednesday in New Hampshire, “Every candidate running for President, both Democrat and Republican, should make a promise and a plan to fix democracy first, on day one.”
