Mail in the 2016 NH Democratic Primary

Campaigns and super PACs flooded voters with persuasion mail during the New Hampshire Presidential Primary. Mail allows the campaigns and allied groups to communicate below the radar and is often used for attacks; there is no way to tell how much is being sent out or who is receiving it. 

Several Granite Staters have helpfully provided Democracy in Action with their accumulated mail.  The sample of Democratic mail includes 35 pieces (ten pieces from the Clinton campaign, 17 from the Sanders campaign, and eight from two outside groups).  This is a small sample but gives some sense of the issues the campaigns were emphasizing and which audiences they were targeting. 

The Sanders campaign had several creative pieces.  One had a "Wheel of Fortune" theme with a spinning wheel.  A Social Security piece with the theme that it is an unbreakable promise had a note, "Even this mail piece is unbreakable—it's printed on tear-resistant paper. Try to rip it!"  Another piece opened into a poster of Sanders.  Hillary for America pieces were fairly conventional and included some strong issue-focused pieces (economy, health care, education) in constrast to Iowa where many of the pieces seemed designed invoke fear of what the Republicans will do.

Below is a list of pieces received in the latter part of the campaign, organized by group, but not in any specific chronological order.
