Here are 10 reasons why nurses are voting Bernie Sanders for President:

1.    REVERSE INCOME INEQUALITY, JOBS TO REBUILD AMERICA
Bernie Sanders will invest $1 trillion to rebuild our crumbling infra­structure - roads, bridges, dams, water systems, schools - to create 13 million good-paying jobs. Bernie sponsored legislation to raise the minimum wage to $15 an hour, and calls for pay equity for women.

2.    GUARANTEE HEALTHCARE FOR ALL, CUT RX PRICES
Too many Americans remain priced out of access to healthcare. Ber­nie Sanders calls for guaranteed care for everyone with an improved, expanded Medicare for all. He also sponsored legislation to slash the high cost of prescription drugs.

3.    HOLD WALL STREET ACCOUNTABLE
Bernie Sanders demands Wall Street pay its fair share of taxes and introduced the nurses-backed S. 1371, a small tax on stock market speculation to raise hundreds of billions of dollars to heal America.

4.    MAKE COLLEGE TUITION AND DEBT FREE
Bernie Sanders introduced a bill to make all public colleges and uni­versities tuition free, paid for by a tax on Wall Street speculation. He proposes slashing student loan interest rates.

5.    REAL ACTION ON CLIMATE CHANGE
To attack the climate crisis, Bernie Sanders' comprehensive plan includes taxing fossil fuels and transitioning to renewable energy, ending fossil fuel subsidies, stopping dangerous Arctic oil drilling, and protecting the health of our children harmed by fossil fuel pollutants.

6.    A FAIR AND HUMANE IMMIGRATION POLICY
Bernie Sanders supports full immigration reform, including a path to citizenship for 11 million undocumented immigrants. He would dismantle inhumane deportation programs, ban for-profit detention centers, and expand DACA and administrative relief for parents of legal permanent residents.

7.    END SYSTEMIC RACISM
Bernie Sanders calls for sweeping criminal justice reforms, including demilitarizing police forces; holding everyone, including police officers, accountable for violating the law; banning for-profit prisons; reducing mass incarceration; and turning back from the failed "war on drugs."

8.    CARE FOR OUR VETERANS
Bernie Sanders sponsored bipartisan legislation to expand VA med­ical facilities and hire more VA doctors and nurses, and pledges to ensure all veterans get the full care they need, including expanded mental health and dental services.

9.    EXPAND SOCIAL SECURITY
Bernie Sanders has changed the national debate on Social Security by not only opposing cuts to this lifeline for seniors but also propos­ing expanded Social Security benefits, paid for by raising the pay­roll income gap which limits contributions to Social Security by the wealthiest Americans.

10.     MONEY OUT OF POLITICS
Bernie Sanders has set a new standard for politics by renouncing funding from billionaires and corporate donors and their Super PACs. He calls for action to overturn the Citizens United court ruling that opened the door to the corruption of our electoral system by wealthy donors.

Bernie Sanders is a cosponsor of the VA Employee Fairness Act (S. 1257/H.R. 2193), an NNU-backed bill that would allow VA nurses to collectively bargain for better wages and working conditions like other VA employees already do. As chairman of the Senate Veterans' Affairs Committee, he also worked to pass a bill to reform the VA healthcare system and reduce backlogs at VA hospitals.  Bernie Sanders cares about VA nurses and VA patients, and he has shown it again and again.
