O’Malley for Iowa Announces Immigration and Refugee Advocates New Leadership Committee

Des Moines, Iowa – Following a successful weekend swing talking immigration in Western Iowa, Governor O’Malley’s Iowa campaign today announced the Iowa Immigration and Refugee Advocates New Leadership Committee. This launch unites major immigration and refugee advocates around Iowa behind the one candidate in the race who has been consistent and out front in standing up for American values: Governor Martin O’Malley.

The New Leadership Committee is comprised of 21 elected officials, activists, community leaders, DREAMers, and supporters across Iowa who are committed to electing Martin O’Malley the next President of the United States to bring the new leadership needed to fix our inhumane immigration system  The Committee will organize in their communities, in English, Spanish or language of preference, to bring together advocates for immigration reform, wage policy, and education issues especially as Governor O’Malley makes his closing argument ahead of the Iowa caucuses.

Governor O’Malley has proven to be a consistent and leading voice on standing up for America’s values – from taking in thousands of Central American refugee children in Maryland in 2014, to calling on the US to accept 65,000 Syrian refugees last year, to urging DHS to reconsider ICE’s deportation raids earlier this week.

Immigrant and refugee activists across Iowa believe Governor O’Malley offers the new leadership the country needs to get things done, along with a commitment to diversity and dignity for all people to finally pass comprehensive immigration reform. Today these leaders joined Governor O’Malley’s Iowa Immigration and Refugee New Leadership Committee:
