DNC Chair Wasserman Schultz Announces Luis Miranda as DNC Communications Director

Washington, DC — Democratic National Committee Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz announced today that Luis Miranda will return to the Democratic National Committee as Communications Director at the beginning of October. Miranda has a long record of public service, as a Democratic communications strategist, and previously ran a 50-state regional communications program at the DNC for then-Chairman Howard Dean.

“We're thrilled to have Luis join the Democratic National Committee team as our Communications Director, bringing with him a long record of public service as well as a winning campaign record," said DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz. “Luis’ tremendous experience working on issue advocacy, at the White House, at the Democratic National Committee, and on campaigns at all levels make him an incredible addition to our team and will help us promote policies that strengthen the middle class, and win in 2016.”

Most recently Luis worked as a strategic communications consultant based in Washington, DC with a variety of advocacy clients. From 2009 through 2013 Luis served as a spokesperson and Director of Hispanic Media for President Barack Obama at the White House, playing a key role in developing the Administration’s messaging on immigration reform and border security. Luis began his career working for then-Minority Leader Dick Gephardt and then-Chairman Patrick Kennedy at the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC), served as a spokesman for then-Senator John Kerry during his presidential campaign, and ran a 50-state regional communications program for then-Chairman Howard Dean at the Democratic National Committee (DNC), helping Democrats recapture Congress in 2006 and the White House in 2008. He also worked for the 2000 Gore campaign in Florida, including on operations for the Florida recount.
