RNC Chairman Reince Priebus Names Amani Council as Director of African American Communications

WASHINGTON – RNC Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement announcing Amani Council as Director of African American Communications:

“We’re excited to welcome Amani Council to the Republican National Committee as the Director of African American Communications,” said RNC Chairman Reince Priebus. “Taking our message to every American in every neighborhood is my priority as Chairman, and Amani’s work will help us accomplish that. She will work with Deputy Press Secretary Raffi Williams, who joined our team earlier this year, to build relationships with African American media as we work to earn the trust of more African American voters.

“She brings a wealth of experience from her time on the Hill, in public relations, business, and in issue advocacy. Her work with youth and Historically Black Colleges and Universities will help us connect with voters in places our message isn’t being heard.”

Amani Council has over ten years of experience in strategic communications, community engagement, public relations, and organizational development. She began her work in politics on the Hill, first in the office of Congressman Clay Shaw and then as a Legislative Assistant to Congressman Randy Forbes. After working for Congressman Forbes, she served as Director of Government Affairs for the Family Research Council where she coordinated lobbying efforts on Capitol Hill on a wide range of social and pro-family issues.

Most recently, Amani served as Director of New Media and Business Development at Bass Public Affairs, where, among other things she worked on ballot initiatives, crafted media strategies for businesses and non-profits.
