March 15, 2013--Gov. Nikki Haley
(SC) introduced former Gov. Mitt Romney, first making a few remarks on
South Carolina. "It is so great to be here in Washington,
DC. Not really," she began. "The president and Washington, DC
are the hardest part about being the
governor of South Carolina. And I will tell you they have thrown
it at
us pretty good. When you look at the fact that him and his union
thugs
turned around and threw it at a thousand non-union workers in South
Carolina. You know what we said? Not in South
Carolina. Those
thousand workers are now 6,000 workers. His Department of Justice
threw it at us and said you can't have voter ID; we're not going to let
it pass. You know what we said? Not in South
Carolina. Every
election in our state now requires photo ID before you vote. And
now
they're trying to throw Obamacare and tell us that we have to bust our
budgets and expand Medicaid. Do you know what I'm saying?
Not in
South Carolina. As long as I am the governor of South Carolina,
we
will not expand Medicaid on President Obama's watch. We will not
expand Medicaid ever. We are going to make sure that we take care
of
the people that we know best to take care of and we don't need
Washington's help to do it."
Lauding Romney, Haley stated, "This is a leader who is a
servant because he loves his country. This is a leader who's back
to tell you thank you. This is a leader we need to stand up and
give the loudest applause ever and say we appreciate your fight and we
appreciate your love for this United States of America..." >
