Fast for Families Seeks Immigration Reform
Nov. 29, 2013-In the Fast For Families tent on the National Mall, Eliseo Medina, secretary-treasurer of the SEIU, is in day 18 of his fast to promote action on immigration reform.  President Obama and the First Lady stopped by earlier in the day.
Nov. 25, 2013--In another effort to press Congress to take up immigration reform, a group of faith, immigrant rights and labor leaders launched the "Fast for Families: A Call for Immigration Reform and Citizenship" on November 12.  Several people in this tent on the Mall are in their 14th day of fasting, seeking "to move the hearts and compassion of members of Congress to pass immigration reform with a path to citizenship."  They are being joined by others here in DC as well as in locations around the country who are fasting for shorter periods.  The group received a surprise boost when Vice President Joe Biden visits on November 22.
