Another Protest Seeks End to Deportations  ... >
May 1, 2014 - After a protest to call on President Obama to end deportations, immigrant rights activists mingled in Lafayette Park.  The protest, hosted by CASA, started at the Capitol and proceeded up the Mall to Lafayette Park; several activists were arrested in front of the White House.
In March President Obama asked Secretary of Homeland Security Jeh Johnson to "conduct a review of practices to ensure that within the confines of the law we are carrying out these policies in the most humane way possible."  However, on April 24, 22 Republican Senators sent a letter to Obama warning that "the changes under consideration would represent a near complete abandonment of basic immigration enforcement and discard the rule of law and the notion that the United States has enforceable borders." >
