RNC 2014 Winter Meeting "Building to Victory" |
Jan. 22-24, 2014 - Ten months after the Republican National Committee released its Growth & Opportunity Project report (>), and less than ten months before the November 2014 mid-term elections, members of the RNC gathered at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Washington, DC for the party's winter meeting. Members approved "historic" rules changes, creating a less drawn out presidential primary process which they believe will help elect a Republican president in 2016. The RNC members also elected, by region, members of the 2016 Convention Site Selection Committee, charged with recommending the location of the party's 2016 national convention. Other highlights of the meeting included participation by some RNC members in the March for Life; a townhall where five Republican women "Rising Stars" rejected Democrats' "war on women" rhetoric; and luncheon speeches by former Gov. Mike Huckabee and Sen. Tim Scott (SC). |
