Jan. 28, 2014 - In advance of President Barack Obama's State of the Union Address, a group of House Democrats led by Rep. Sander Levin (MI), ranking member of the House Ways and Means Committee, held a press conference "to highlight the need to extend emergency unemployment insurance."  Each of the members has invited an unemployed constituent as a guest to the State of the Union address to highlight the issue.  The Emergency Unemployment Compensation (EUC) program expired on Dec. 28, 2013, affecting an estimated 1.3 million people.
