Jill Stein Fails to Qualify for the Ballot in Nevada

ed. - On June 3, 2016 The Green Party of Nevada submitted petition signatures to qualify Jill Stein for the ballot.  Although they submitted several thousand extra signatures, the Secretary of State ruled the petitions were 647 votes short.  The Green Party then went about gathering more signatures and went back to the Secretary of State.  When that failed, they filed a lawsuit challenging the early deadline.  On Sept. 1, 2016 U.S. District Judge Jennifer Dorsey ruled against the Green Party.  After the election several people were indicted for fraud in connection with the petition effort.

ATTORNEY GENERAL LAXALT AND SECRETARY OF STATE CEGAVSKE ANNOUNCE GRAND JURY INDICTMENT FOR FRAUDULENT VOTER PETITION SCHEME

Las Vegas, NV – Today, Nevada Attorney General Adam Paul Laxalt announced that Patrick Duffy, 48, of Las Vegas, was indicted by a Clark County Grand Jury on 13 felony charges. The charges include five counts of Misconduct in Signing, Filing or Altering Petition, a category “D” felony; five counts of Obtaining and Using Personal Identifying Information of Another, a category “B” felony; and three counts of Perjury, a category “D” felony. Duffy falsified the signatures of individuals on petitions to qualify the Nevada Green Party for general election ballot access in 2016, and then submitted the falsified petitions for filing. While submitting the petitions, Duffy allegedly swore under penalty of perjury that the signatures were legitimate.

“The election process is the backbone of our democratic system,” said Attorney General Adam Laxalt. “And my office will continue to partner with the Secretary of State’s Office in order to protect the integrity of this process.”

“Ensuring the integrity of the petition process is a very important responsibility of this office,” added Secretary of State Barbara Cegavske. “Those individuals and entities that participate in the gathering of voter’s signatures on petitions must be diligent in their adherence to the law. Falsifying a signature on a petition is a category “D” felony.”

Based on the Grand Jury’s findings, a summons was issued for Duffy to appear before the court on March 28th in Clark County District Court Department 23. An indictment is merely a charging document; every defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty in a court of law.

This case was investigated by the Nevada Secretary of State’s Office after being referred by the Clark County Elections Department. The case was prosecuted by Senior Deputy Attorney General Daniel Westmeyer.

Stein, Green Party submit petitions in Nevada to be on November ballot

Jill Stein and the Green Party of Nevada filed petitions today to qualify for the 2016 elections, including Stein for President.

The party was required to file 5,431 signatures to qualify as a party for the ballot. The signatures will now be verified by county clerks and then sent to the state board. The Greens filed more than 8,500 signatures.

Nevada will be the 22nd state where the Green Party has qualified for the November election, with 299 electoral votes – more than the total needed to win the election. This is only slightly behind the electoral votes that the Libertarian Party have qualified for so far. The Greens expect to be on nearly all states this November. Nevada was one of the states the party failed to qualify in for the 2012 election, when it was on 32 states.

"I want to thank everyone who worked so hard to get us on the ballot in Nevada. I greatly appreciate the inspired assistance we received from Bernie Sanders' supporters following the Democratic Party's shameful manipulation of it Nevada state convention. We will ensure that voters will have a progressive alternative this November,” said Stein.

Stein is running on a Power to the People platform. She supports a Green New Deal that promotes full employment and economic justice by transitioning to 100% renewable energy by 2030 to curb climate change. She advocates the abolition of student debt; an end to policies of mass incarceration; and, single payer universal health care.

“Ballot access is one the tools the two main parties use to suppress democracy in America. Even the largest third parties have to expend enormous resources and time navigating complex rules that vary from state to state,” added Rick Lass, the national ballot access coordinator for Jill Stein.

America’s political system features numerous anti-democratic policies that are specifically designed to prevent the most oppressed sectors of our society from participating in the electoral process. Students and young people, African-Americans, poor people, and the elderly all face tremendous barriers, such as voter ID laws, disenfranchisement of ex-offenders, and restrictive residency requirements, among others.

“Our campaign is promoting solutions for each of these unjust restrictions to our voting rights,” added Stein, who is campaigning this weekend in California.

Press Release - Ballot Access Fraud In Nevada Orchestrated By Phony Company, Results May Have Changed Election

Today former Nevada Congressional Candidate Dan Rolle announced that his team has completed an investigation into ballot access fraud in the State of Nevada. Rolle's team has concluded that a company formed in May 2016 (White Paper Solutions) fraudulently collected signatures in an effort to defraud Jill Stein and the Green Party and even deliberately prevent the candidate from access in the general election. In doing so, White Paper Solutions essentially secured Nevada for Clinton.

"Clinton won the state by only 27,000 votes," Rolle said today. "This margin of less than 3% could easily have gone to Jill Stein and Trump may have won Nevada." Rolle's group believes that it is possible that White Paper Solutions received support from much larger groups, noting that the procedural methods used by the company, and its officer (Adrienne White) would have required comprehensive knowledge of political systems.

"We aren't talking about someone who just formed a company to scam money, this is someone who took $45,000 from the Green Party and delivered thousands of fraudulent signatures." Rolle also noted that White's company has completely disappeared, and that Green Party representatives have not been able to contact her.

Rolle also noted that he is disappointed that Nevada's Secretary of State didn't immediately act on the matter. The Green Party turned in thousands of signatures that were invalidated (details in attached documents). Rolle's team believes that an investigation should have been triggered as soon as counting was complete.

Instead, Rolle has challenged the Nevada Attorney General, Secretary of State and Governor to re-examine the prosecution of many homeless locals who White Paper Solutions specifically targeted. Rolle's group has confirmed from Green Party members that White Paper Solutions specifically targeted the homeless, even paying them less than minimum wage to collect (and possible forge) signatures for the ballot access initiative.

"We will not stop until justice is served, and Adrienne White is held accountable," Rolle said to a group of his supporters today.  "We aren't going anywhere."

Full details are available in the attached documents.
