Congressman Tom Marino Becomes First PA House Member to Endorse Trump for President

February 29th, 2016 – Congressman Tom Marino (PA-10) became the first Pennsylvania Congressional House member to endorse Donald Trump for President:

“For the past 10 months, I have listened to political pundits and inside the beltway politicians say that Donald Trump is not a serious candidate, cannot win the Republican nomination and cannot win the Presidency. However, Mr. Trump has defied the odds at every turn. It is time that we start listening to what the people want and that is a President Donald Trump. I am proud to give Mr. Trump my full endorsement and support today.

In particular, Mr. Trump is right about the desperate need to address illegal immigration and fight to keep our country safe. For far too long, President Obama has used his executive action powers to circumvent Congress and institute dangerous policies that both cripple our national security and economy.

I have never seen such excitement and enthusiasm around a candidate in my lifetime. He is able to attract new voters from across the spectrum and that is exactly what our party and country needs. It is time that we put a strong leader in the White House and I believe Donald Trump is the right man for the job.

It is time for us to come together and Make America Great Again!”

About Tom

Since being elected to the US House of Representatives in 2010, Tom Marino has fulfilled his promise to the residents of Pennsylvania’s 10th District. Tom, who is known and respected on both sides of the aisle as a fiscal conservative, has played an integral role in the fight to rein in out of control spending and eliminate burdensome regulations that are crippling our nation.

Tom was born and raised in Lycoming County, where his father, Joseph, worked two jobs as a firefighter and janitor. Tom learned at an early age from his father that you don’t spend what you don’t have and hard work and personal responsibility is how you make through life.

Following his father’s example, Tom went straight to work on the floor of a local manufacturing facility after graduating high school. He worked for years before deciding that he wanted to pursue a college education.

Tom enrolled in Lycoming College in Williamsport and began taking classes while still working. With the support of his family, friends and the community, Tom was able to graduate magna cum laude from Lycoming and finish a law degree from the Dickinson School of Law within five years.

The next few years, Tom spent practicing law in a private practice before deciding to enter public service. He ran for District Attorney of Lycoming County in 1991 and won. Tom proudly served Lycoming County for ten years.

His service and dedication to protecting the residents of Lycoming County did not go unnoticed. Tom was appointed in 2002 as the United States Attorney for the Middle District of Pennsylvania by President George W. Bush.

As a United States Attorney, Tom fought to keep the streets of Pennsylvania safe by prosecuting a wide range of federal offenders, from violent criminals to white collar businessmen who cooked the books. After completing his service as a federal prosecutor, Tom returned to private practice where he began to see firsthand the hardships Pennsylvanians were facing as a result of the Obama-Reid-Pelosi big government agenda. He felt so strongly that America was going in the wrong direction that he ran to represent the 10th District in Congress and he has been fighting to right America’s course in Washington ever since. For the past four years, he has been focused on cutting government spending, promoting private-sector job creation, keeping taxes low, and creating a better tomorrow for the next generation.

Tom and his wife, Edie, have two children, Chloe, 19, and Victor, 15, and reside in Cogan Station, just outside Williamsport.
