South Carolina State Senator Paul Thurmond endorses Jeb

Today, on the heels of a string of South Carolina endorsements, Jeb announced the support of State Senator Paul Thurmond, a major figure in South Carolina.

“I have met with almost every Presidential candidate, and I believe that Jeb Bush is best able to lead the country and best positioned to win the White House for conservatives,” said State Senator Paul Thurmond.  “Jeb has executive leadership, he has governed a purple state and because of his tireless work ethic, he enacted conservative reforms that would have been difficult to achieve even in other deep red states.  I have confidence that when elected President Jeb’s action will match his rhetoric.”

Senator Paul Thurmond is a former member of the Charleston County Council and was a candidate for US Congress.  As a State Senator, he has been a noted education reformer, an outspoken leader in dealing with the recent Confederate Flag controversy and a respected advocate for policies that create long-term job growth.

Thurmond added: “In evaluating the Presidential campaigns, only Jeb Bush has put forth substantive policy proposals and built a fundraising and ground game operation that can lead us to victory over Hillary Clinton.  This country cannot take four more years of Barack Obama’s policies.  I am one of the few state senators to step up and endorse anyone for President at this time, but if we are concerned about the country, we have to take action now.”

“Paul Thurmond is a great leader for South Carolina, and this is an important moment for our campaign,” stated Jeb Bush.  “I will reform Washington and make it work for us again, and with Sen. Thurmond’s help, we will cut taxes, stop the tyranny of federal regulatory agencies, and repeal Obamacare.   I’m honored to have Paul on our team.”
