Hillary for America

Hillary Clinton
Miami, FL
March 1, 2016

As the results came in on Super Tuesday, Hillary Clinton delivered the following remarks in Miami.

Thank you. Thank you all so much. What a Super Tuesday. You know, all across our country today, Democrats voted to break down barriers so we can all rise together, and I am so delighted to be here with you in Florida. I congratulate Senator Sanders on his strong showing and campaigning, and I’m grateful to all of you who voted for me.

To the volunteers and organizers, I know you've worked your hearts out, and to all my friends, many of a lifetime, who traveled to all the states to tell people about the candidate they knew, and to the hundreds of thousands of people who went to HillaryClinton.com to give what they could. Most less than $100.

Now this campaign moves forward to the Crescent City, the Motor City, and beyond. We're going to work for every vote and we will need all of you to keep volunteering, contributing, doing everything you can, talking to your friends and neighbors because this country belongs to all of us, not just those at the top, not just to people who look one way, worship one way, or even think one way. America prospers when we all prosper. America is strong when we're all strong. And we know we've got work to do. But that work, that work is not to make America great again. America never stopped being great. We have to make America whole. We have to fill in, fill in what's been hollowed out.

You know, we have to make strong the broken places, re-stitch the bonds of trust and respect across our country. It might be unusual as I’ve said before, for a presidential candidate to say this, but I'm going to keep saying it. I believe what we need in America today is more love and kindness. Because you know what? It works. Instead of building walls, we're going to break down barriers and build ladders of opportunity and empowerment so every American can live up to his or her potential, because then, and only then, can America live up to its full potential, too.

Now, it's clear tonight that the stakes in this election have never been higher. And the rhetoric we're hearing on the other side has never been lower. Trying to divide America between us and them is wrong, and we're not going to let it work. You know, whether we like it or not, we're all in this together, my friends, and we all have to do our part. But unfortunately, too many of those with the most wealth and the most power in this country today seem to have forgotten that basic truth about America.

Yesterday I was at the Old South Meeting House in Boston, where nearly two and a half centuries ago, American patriots organized the original Tea Party. And I had to wonder: What they would make of corporations that seem to have absolutely no loyalty to the country that gave them so much? What would they say about student loan companies that overcharge young people struggling to get out of debt? Even young men and women serving our country in the military. Or corporations that shift their headquarters overseas to avoid paying their fair share of taxes. Like Johnson Controls, an auto parts company from Wisconsin, that all of us, we taxpayers, helped to bail out with the auto rescue back in 2008. Now they're turning their back on America. Now, I'm not interested in condemning whole categories of people or businesses. I'm just interested in making things right. So let there be no doubt, if you cheat your employees, exploit consumers, pollute our environment, or rip off the taxpayers, we're going to hold you accountable.

But if you do the right thing, if you invest in your workers and in America's future, then we'll stand with you. We all need to work together to break down the barriers holding back our families and our country because the middle class needs a raise. And more good jobs. Jobs that pay enough for a family to live on, even put a little away for retirement. Jobs that provide dignity and a bright future. That's why we have to invest in manufacturing and infrastructure and small business and clean energy, enough clean energy to power every home in America.

Don't let anybody tell you we can't make things in America anymore, because we can, we are, and we will. And together we can break down the barriers that face working-class families across America, especially in struggling Rust Belt communities and small Appalachian towns that have been hollowed out by lost jobs and lost hope. Families who for generations kept our lights on and our factories running. Together, we can break down barriers for our kids so they get the education they need and deserve. Every child in America should have a great school and a great teacher no matter what zip code they live in.

Together, we can break down barriers for women and finally guarantee equal pay for equal work.

And we can—we can break down barriers for families who've seen too many black children harassed, humiliated, and even killed. We can break down barriers for voters in North Carolina who've been systemically disenfranchised and disempowered. We can break down barriers for hardworking immigrants everywhere, who are too often exploited and intimidated.

We have to defend all our rights—workers' rights and women's rights, civil rights and voting rights, LGBT rights and rights for people with disabilities.

And that starts by standing with President Obama when he nominates a strong, progressive justice to the Supreme Court. I know, I know too many Americans have lost faith in our future. We hear it in the voices of parents who don't know how they're going to give their kids the opportunities they deserve. We see it in the eyes of working men and women who don't expect anything to come easy, but wonder why it has to be quite so hard.

Like many of you, I find strength and purpose in the values I learned from my family and my faith. They gave me simple words to live by, an old Methodist saying: do all the good you can for all the people you can for as long as you can. and that is why—that is why I believe deeply that if we resist the forces trying to drive us apart, we can come together to make this country work for everyone—the struggling, the striving, and the successful. If we all do our part, we can restore our common faith in our common future, that's the spirit powering this campaign.

It comes from the young janitor in Arkansas who stopped buying junk food and put off getting a haircut so he could contribute to it. It comes from the disabled combat veteran from Nebraska who sent in $10. In 70 years of his life, he had never donated to a political campaign until now. You can join us, too. Please, go to HillaryClinton.com, make a donation, text "JOIN" to 47246.

And let me leave you with a story that has inspired so many of us. By now, we all know what happened in Flint, Michigan, don't we? How a city's children were poisoned by toxic water because their governor wanted to save a little money. But there's another story in Flint: it's a story of a community that's been knocked down but refused to be knocked out.

It is—it is hundreds of union plumbers coming from across the country to help install new water fixtures. It's students raising funds for water deliveries and showing up to distribute supplies. It's the United Auto Workers and General Motors donating millions of dollars to help. And when I visited Flint a few weeks ago, I went to the House of Prayer Missionary Baptist Church. The congregation locked arms and sang, "We've come too far from where we started from."

They're not about to quit now. We know there are many other Flints out there, communities that are hurting and need help. But we've come too far in this country to let us turn back. We're going to build on the progress that we've made. We saved the auto industry thanks to President Obama, now we've got to create new jobs and industries of the future.

We've now insured 90 percent of Americans thanks to President Obama, Now we have to finish the job and get to 100 percent. We have come too far to stop now. We've got to keep going, keep working, keep breaking down those barriers and imagine what we can build together when each and every American has the chance to live up to his or her own God-given potential. Thank you, all, so very much. Thank you!

"Three more victories!"

We did very well tonight, Jill. It's all thanks to you.

We started off the night winning Vermont, then we won Oklahoma and Colorado, and moments ago they called Minnesota for us as well. FOUR big victories for our political revolution tonight.

No one thought we would get this far. You proved them wrong. Working people are coming together and voting for Bernie in states across the country. They are contributing small amounts of money so we can compete with the millionaires and billionaires bankrolling Hillary Clinton’s campaign and her largest super PACs.

Contribute $2.70 to our campaign tonight and we’ll have the resources to continue our momentum into the twelve primaries and caucuses happening over the next two weeks.

Our campaign needs to be prepared for whatever comes next. I can assure you that our opponent's billionaires and lobbyists will do everything they can to stop our campaign in the twelve caucuses or primaries in the next two weeks.

You should be extraordinarily proud of what we accomplished tonight … and we’re just getting started. People should not underestimate us.

In solidarity,

Victory in Vermont on Super Tuesday

ESSEX JUNCTION, Vt. – Bernie Sanders won Tuesday’s presidential primary in Vermont by a landslide and told 4,000 supporters chanting “Feel the Bern!” at a hometown victory party that he is in the race to stay through the Democratic National Convention in July.

“By the end of tonight we are going to win many hundreds of delegates,” Sanders said after polls closed in Vermont and as results were still coming in from other states across the country. Altogether, 11 states were holding primaries or caucuses on Super Tuesday.

Sanders and his wife, Jane, cast their ballots at a Ward 7 polling place in Burlington, Vermont, the city where he first won elected office as mayor. “This is a campaign that is going to the Philadelphia convention in July,” he told reporters as he left the polling place in a community center.

Earlier, a new poll conducted for CNN found Sanders has far better odds than Hillary Clinton of defeating Republican front-runner Donald Trump in this fall’s general election. In a head-to-head matchup, Sanders beat Trump by 12 points. Clinton’s advantage was only eight points. Sanders also beat U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio by 8 percentage points and U.S Sen. Ted Cruz by 17 points. Clinton loses to Rubio and Cruz in head-to-head matchups in the CNN/ORC poll.

“This latest poll confirms what other recent polls show. Bernie Sanders is the strongest general election candidate against the Republicans. Secretary Clinton does worse against Trump and actually loses to two of the top three Republican contenders,” said Jeff Weaver, Sanders’ campaign manager.

In another development showing Sanders broad grassroots support, his campaign announced after a midnight filing-period deadline that supporters had donated a record $42.7 million in February. Clinton's campaign manager conceded the senator from Vermont “substantially outraised” the former secretary of state during the month. He did not disclose, however, how much was raked in by her super PACs from millionaires and billionaires, Wall Street, Big Oil, the pharmaceutical industry and other powerful special interests.

Marco Rubio for President

Sen. Marco Rubio

Miami, Florida Rally

March 1, 2016

Transcript...

MARCO RUBIO: Thank you, thank you. I think you've heard this before from someone else, but I want to say it, I love you, Miami! Thank you. It is great to be home. It is great to be home. We are so excited to be home and we are so excited about what lies ahead for America. We are so excited by what lies ahead for our campaign. You see, just five days ago, we began to unmask the true nature of the front-runner so far in this race. Five days ago, we began to explain to the American people that Donald Trump is a con artist.

And in just five days, we have seen the impact that it is having across the country. We are seeing in state after state, he loves to talk about polls, we are seeing in state after state his numbers coming down, our numbers going up. And two weeks from tonight, right here in Florida, we are going to send a message loud and clear. We are going to send a message that the party of Lincoln and Reagan and the Presidency of the United States will never be held by a con artist.

AUDIENCE: USA! USA! USA!

RUBIO: Of all the places in America, and I have traveled this country now and I am so proud to be back, because there's no place in America that understands the American Dream better than this community and this great state of Florida. Like our country, this is a place built by people who always work hard for a better life. Here in this community, we have all been shaped and raised by people who know how special America is, because they know what life is like outside of America. By millions of people who lost their homeland. By millions of people who lost their future. But thank God they found this great country where anything is possible, where everyone can go as far as their talent and their work will take them. But we know that the things that make America special were not an accident. They did not happen on their own. They happened because for over 200 years, each generation of Americans did what they needed to do to leave their children better off than themselves. I know of no place in America that understands that better than we do here. For literally everyone of us here is but a generation removed from someone who made our generation the purpose of their lives. Only in America would that have been possible.

But that American Dream that changed our lives and changed the world is in trouble now. For the first time in a long time, young Americans believe the American Dream is dead. It is not dead, but it is in a lot of trouble. Because after eight years of Barack Obama, the American Dream is slipping away for millions. But here's the good news: we do not have to remain on the road we are on right now, and when I am President of the United States, we will not just save the American Dream, we will expand it to reach more people than ever.

In just the last week, since the Thursday debate, I have been inundated with e-mails and calls from people all across this country who are joining our effort. If you are watching tonight, I ask you to join our effort. Go to marcorubio.com. Sign up to be a part of our team. Because what's at stake, my friends, is not just the future of America, but also the future of the conservative movement. 36 years ago, Ronald Reagan defined conservatism for a generation. It is not a coincidence that so many young Americans my age and a few years older, are all people who believe in the American Dream and in the conservative message. Because we are the children of the Reagan Revolution.

We believe in free enterprise. We believe in a strong national defense. We believe in limited government. We believe in the Constitution of the United States.

We believe the world is a better place when America is the strongest country on earth. And we know that America is strongest when it stands with its allies, allies like Israel. We will always be on their side. We stand for freedom in Cuba, in Venezuela, in Nicaragua.

These things are not negotiable.

AUDIENCE: Marco! Marco! Marco!

RUBIO: These things are not negotiable. But there are some people in this race that aren't strong on these issues. The other day Donald Trump was asked, ‘Will you take sides with Israel in face of its enemies?’ And he said he's not taking sides.

AUDIENCE: Boo!

RUBIO: Donald Trump says he's not taking sides, he wants to be impartial. When I'm President of the United States, we are taking sides. We are on Israel's side. And the world will know we're on Israel's side, because on my first day in office, we will cancel Barack Obama's deal with Iran.
When I'm President of the United States, for the first time in eight years, we will have a president that follows the Constitution, not violates it every day. It will begin on my first day in office, because on my first day in office, I am going to cancel every single one of Barack Obama's unconstitutional executive orders.

When I'm President of the United States, you will have a president that believes in free enterprise and actually offers ideas to save it. I believe in free enterprise, not because my parents were wealthy. I didn't inherit $100 million. I didn't start out with a small $2 million loan from my dad. My father was a bartender on Miami Beach. And the reason why he had a job is because free enterprise works. If any community in America understands that socialism doesn't work, it's right here in Miami and it's right here in Florida.

When I'm president we're going reduce our taxes and regulations. We're going to save social security and medicare, and balance our budget. We're going to fully use our energy resources. And my plan is a lot more than just getting rid of the lines around the state. On health care, we are going to repeal and replace Obamacare once and for all.

When I’m president of the United States, we are going to rebuild the United States military. When I’m president we are going to have a real war on terror. Which means the best intelligence agencies in the world will find the terrorists, the best military in the world will destroy them and if we capture them alive, they’re not getting a court hearing, they’re not getting lawyer, they’re going to Guantanamo.

When I’m president of the United States, we are going to take care of our veterans again. God bless our veterans! And by the way when I’m president of the United States, you will have a president that everyday will do what I will do right now, I want to thank our firefighters and our police officers for everything they do for us.

And you will a president that will never apologize for defending your 2nd Amendment right to protect yourself and your family. These are, indeed, difficult times and many people are struggling, I know many of you are struggling. Do not give into the fear. Do not give into anger. Do not give into sham artists and con artists who try to take advantage of your suffering and your hardships.

Instead believe as we always have as a nation and as a people, that if we do what needs to be done America’s greatest days are always yet to come. We have real problems, and we will confront those problems and we will fix it. We will leave our children as the freest and most prosperous Americans that ever lived. This is what we’re going to do.

Because we always believe in this country that tomorrow can be better than today.

AUDIENCE: USA! USA! USA!

RUBIO: There is a lot of work to be done. For we are all the inheritors of the dreams and the hopes of those who came before us. For 200 years each generation of Americans has done their part, now the time has come for our generation to do our part. And when I’m president of the United States, this generation will do its’ part. Not just to save the American Dream, but ensure that it reaches more people than it has ever reached before.

And that’s why I’m so passionate about this election. That’s why I want you to understand that no matter how long it takes, no matter how many states it takes, no matter how many states it takes, no matter how many weeks and months it takes, I will campaign as long as it takes and wherever it takes to ensure that I am the next President of the United States. We will not allow the party of Lincoln and Reagan to fall into the hands of a con artist. We will not allow the next President of the United States to be a socialist like Bernie Sanders. And we will not allow the next President of the United States to be someone under FBI investigation like Hillary Clinton. I will unite this party, and we will grow it, and we will win in November, and we will turn this country around. The stakes are too high, and we will do whatever it takes. We have some states waiting for me in the next few days, but then we’re coming to Florida. And two weeks tonight, you will send a message to the nation and the world: that America’s greatest days are yet to come. Just a few brief words in Spanish and I want to close in English.

Florida, I know you’re ready. The pundits say we’re underdogs, I’ll accept that. We’ve all been underdogs. This is a community of underdogs. This is a state of underdogs. This is a country of underdogs. But we will win. And when we do, and when we do, we will do what needs to be done. And our children will be the freest and most prosperous Americans that have ever lived. And the American Dream will change more lives than ever before. And we are going to leave for our children what Americans always leave their children: the single greatest nation in the history of all mankind.

We are ready to turn this country around and usher in the New American Century. I am asking you at home tonight: come sign up for our effort at MarcoRubio.com and together we will usher in the greatest era in the amazing history of America. Thank you and God bless you. Buenos noches, Miami! Thank you!

Kasich for America
March 1, 2016

TO: Interested Parties

FROM: John Weaver, Chief Strategist

RE: The GOP’s Best Choice

Tonight’s results make one thing clear: John Kasich is the best choice moving forward for Republicans who want to stop Donald Trump and win the White House.

Here’s why:

John Kasich

John Kasich spent the last month playing an away game, but now the race is moving onto his home turf and the race will fully reset when it gets to Ohio on March 15. It’s clear from tonight’s results that voters move into the Kasich column when they hear the governor’s uplifting message. With the race shifting north and more and more supporters investing in the Kasich campaign, our position has never been stronger.

According to internal data from March 1 states, twice as many Rubio second-choice voters go to Kasich than to Trump. Rubio’s presence in the race is keeping Republicans from consolidating around Governor Kasich – and as the race moves toward states more fertile for Governor Kasich this dynamic can be expected to become more pronounced.

Unlike Senator Rubio who trails Trump by nearly 20 points in Florida, Governor Kasich is in a statistical tie with Trump in Ohio and leads him by 17 points in a head-to-head match-up.  Critically, an independent analysis published by The Washington Post shows that John Kasich defeating Trump in Ohio is likely the only way to stop him from becoming the GOP nominee. Rubio can’t beat Trump in either Florida or Ohio and would enable Trump to become the nominee. Only John Kasich can win Ohio, stop Trump, unite the Party and defeat Hillary Clinton.

Marco Rubio

After yet another strategic shift, the Rubio campaign once again underperformed. They entered the night saying they could win 4 states. It’s clear they aren’t going to do that, and Rubio may miss delegate thresholds in 4 states.

Worst of all for Senator Rubio, he is unable to win his home state of Florida on March 15.

Senator Rubio has been more hyped than Crystal Pepsi, but he has flopped even worse. Even a well-conceived, high-financed marketing campaign won’t work if people don’t want to buy the product. That’s the Rubio campaign’s problem. Behind the nice packaging, voters are discovering there is little substance. A candidate isn’t going to out-talk Donald Trump to the nomination. It’s going to take a candidate who has produced results. Only John Kasich can consolidate the Republican Party and win in November.

Ted Cruz

Ted Cruz bet it all on today, spending more than any other candidate. He needed an overwhelming delegate lead to have a shot at winning the nomination, and he fell short. The end of the road is nearing for him. With the race beginning to move north, he has no ability to grow beyond his current level of support.

Bottom Line

We are executing our campaign plan and John Kasich is the best choice moving forward for Republicans who want to stop Donald Trump and win the White House.

---

Gov. Kasich is running for President to help Americans restore our nation, live in safety and pass on prosperity to those who come after us—and he’s got the experience to help us do it. He was reelected last year by a 30-point margin after working with his fellow Ohioans to turn an $8 billion shortfall into a $2 billion surplus, cut taxes $5 billion and create more than 400,000 new private sector jobs.  As chair of the Budget Committee in Congress he led the effort to balance the federal budget for the first time in a generation and served 18 years on the House Armed Services Committee where he helped enact President Reagan's national security agenda.  He has also had a successful career as an investment banker, New York Times best-selling author and at FOX News.  He and his wife Karen have twin teenage daughters and live in their home outside Columbus. You can learn more about him at www.JohnKasich.com

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 1, 2016

Super Tuesday Watch Party Statement by Dr. Ben Carson

Baltimore, Maryland, March 1, 2016 - Shortly after the polls closed on Super Tuesday, Dr. Ben Carson addressed a crowd of several hundred supporters gathered at The Grand in his hometown of Baltimore, Maryland.

“I am not moved or discouraged when the political class count me out,” said Dr. Carson. “When I began my campaign more than a year ago, there were 17 viable candidates seeking the GOP nomination. Today, because “We the People” continue to show unprecedented support, I remain one of five. Millions of Americans plead with me to continue.  They want to have a choice and a representative voice to ensure people of faith are not marginalized and that integrity is restored to leadership, with a focus on common sense solutions to the myriad problems we face as a nation. They know I am a citizen candidate, not a politician, who won’t do what is expedient, but what is right."

"As long we continue to receive their support, and the Lord keeps opening doors, I will remain in this presidential race. The stakes are too high to willingly hand our country over once again to the pundits and the political class.  I truly believe in America and the potential to return to the values on which this country was founded."

DNC Chair Statement on Super Tuesday

WASHINGTON — DNC Chair Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz released the following statement on Super Tuesday:

“As expected, tonight Donald Trump continued to tighten his grip on the Republican nomination. The GOP establishment can try to run away from him, but they were the architects of the ugly and divisive politics that are fueling his rise. Tonight’s results mean that a man who wavers on whether or not to disavow the KKK is one step closer to becoming the Republican Party’s standard-bearer. It’s hard to imagine an erratic and irrational demagogue like Donald Trump picking Supreme Court justices.

“Furthermore, the Republican Party’s obsession with economically devastating tax cuts for the few at the very top, and their constant obstructionism, have alienated the vast majority of Americans.  It’s becoming clearer every day that we must elect a Democrat as the 45th President of the United States to keep Republicans from dragging our country backward.

“As results continue to come in from across the country, I want to congratulate both of our Democratic presidential candidates and their campaigns for their hard work engaging and energizing voters throughout the Super Tuesday states. Bernie Sanders and Hillary Clinton have campaigned directly on the issues that matter most to the American people. They’ve offered smart and substantive visions for moving our country forward, and they continue to show that they have the right priorities and the temperament to serve as commander in chief.”

The RNC is in Denial

Tonight, the RNC is in denial. In their official statement on Super Tuesday’s results they offered plenty of bluster about Democrats but conspicuously didn’t congratulate or mention any of their candidates by name.

@BenjySarlin: RNC Statement tonight brags about high GOP turnout, bashes Clinton and Sanders. No mention-- at all-- of their own candidates.

@sahilkapur: As Trump and Cruz claim all the victories thus far, the RNC statement on Super Tuesday focuses on the Democrats.

@rickklein: RNC statement doesn't say "Donald Trump," but does mention Hillary Clinton, Bernie Sanders, and President Obama.

@GarrettQuinn: MassGOP statement on primary doesn't mention Donald Trump even though he won nearly 50% of the vote

@APDiploWriter: Is it normal that the RNC statement on Super Tuesday doesn't mention a GOP candidate?

@JenniferJJacobs: Reince Priebus in statement talks about record R turnout. If Trump were any other candidate, would estab be crowning presumptive nominee?

RNC Statement On Super Tuesday

WASHINGTON – Republican National Committee (RNC) Chairman Reince Priebus released the following statement on Super Tuesday:

“While Democrats have seen turnout drop across the board, the record number of Republicans who have gone to the polls in each state shows the country is ready for change after eight years of failed leadership from President Obama. Democrats simply aren’t being energized by Hillary Clinton’s calculated campaign to maintain the status quo or Bernie Sanders’ fringe calls for a socialist ‘revolution.’

“The Democrat Primary has become a race to the far left between an embattled frontrunner facing an FBI investigation and a self-avowed socialist who continues to win states and outraise the Clinton machine. At the end of the day, Democrats are saddled with two fundamentally flawed candidates destined to fail in a general election and a message that isn’t resonating or in line with the majority of Americans.”

CTR STATEMENT ON HILLARY’S WIN ON SUPER TUESDAY

Washington, DC — Correct The Record President Brad Woodhouse released the following statement in response to Hillary Clinton’s big win on Super Tuesday.

“With today’s string of victories, Hillary Clinton has shown she can bring out voters from every corner of the country,” said Brad Woodhouse, President of Correct The Record. “In a test of Hillary's support, Super Tuesday just ballooned the sample size. Her commitment to breaking barriers and building bridges will carry her through the rest of the primary season, through November, and into the Oval Office. And no Party of Trump can stop her."

CTR STATEMENT ON TRUMP’S SUPER TUESDAY WINS

Washington, DC — Correct The Record President Brad Woodhouse released the following statement in response to Donald Trump’s wins on Super Tuesday.

“With this Super Tuesday blowout, Donald Trump signs, seals, and delivers the Republican Party's new platform,” says Brad Woodhouse, President of Correct The Record. “From Georgia to Virginia to Massachusetts, Trump has moved his party rightward with demands for a wall at the border, discriminatory mandates that go against America's core values, and lower standards of moral decency.

“The Republican Party is reaping what they've sown with a front-runner that attacks his opponents with childish insults and schoolyard threats. Some Republicans may try to fight it, but the Party of Trump is here to stay."

American Bridge 21st Century

The Republican Party Further Embraces Bigotry And Extremism

"Donald Trump’s Message Resonates With White Supremacists" read a New York Times headline today. True as that may be, Donald Trump's base of support isn't just white supremacists -- it's the breadth of the anti-immigrant, pro-bigotry GOP base, and, increasingly, the party's establishment.

With his utter dominance tonight, Donald Trump once again demonstrated that the Republican Party is the Party of Trump. His victory in South Carolina ten days ago and convincing wins tonight in Alabama, Georgia, and Tennessee, proved Trump can turn out voters in southern states. But he similarly pulled off a win in Massachusetts, of all places. And even in Virginia, Trump is set to either win outright or pull off a delegate tie. All that to say: Donald Trump has proven the vast breadth of his appeal within the Republican Party -- a reality that the GOP establishment has to comes to terms with, as abhorrent and embarrassing as it may be.

Even as Donald Trump has hesitated to reject an endorsement from former KKK leader David Duke, proposed a ban on all Muslims entering the U.S., and joked that committing murder would not cause him to lose support, establishment leaders from Speaker Paul Ryan to RNC Chair Reince Priebus, and Senators Orrin Hatch and John McCain, continue to affirm that they will support Trump as their party's nominee.

And beyond their pledges of support, additional full-throated establishment endorsements have continued to roll in for Trump, including from Governors Chris Christie and Paul LePage, Senator Jeff Sessions, and former Arizona Governor Jan Brewer -- not to mention additional endorsements from Representatives Duncan Hunter, Chris Collins, Tom Marino, and Scott DesJarlais. Even Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio, for all their anti-Trump bluster, are similarly pledged to support Trump as the nominee.

So, it isn't just white supremacists who are supporting Donald Trump. The Republican establishment and millions of party voters are similarly pledging their support to, and actively voting for, the GOP's demagogic and xenophobic bigot-in-chief.

Here's what the Republican Party is embracing with its commitment to Donald Trump and his racist extremism and bigotry

ANCHORAGE - Preliminary totals from the 2016 Alaska Presidential Poll show the highest number of Alaskans participating in decades in the Alaska GOP process. Nearly 22,000 Alaskans voted on March 1; out-of-district votes will be added to that.

Interesting facts about the Alaska PPP:

The farthest west polling site, District 37-Unalaska, had 71 voters. The farthest north site, District 40-Barrow, had 21 voters. The farthest south and also east site, District 36-Ketchikan, had 654 voters.

The highest-voting district, 14-Eagle River, had 1,114 voters. Bettles, the smallest site that voted, had just one person cast a ballot.

"The interest in the Republican candidates is extraordinarily high," said Peter S. Goldberg, Alaska Republican Party chairman. "This turnout is over 57 percent higher than 2012, and nearly double the turnout of 2008."

Hundreds of volunteers worked for weeks to produce the presidential poll, the results of which bind the votes of Alaska's delegates to the Republican National Convention.

Final preliminary: 21,930 votes cast
Carson 2,401 - 10.9%
Cruz 7,973 - 36.4%
Kasich 892 - 4.1%
Rubio 3,318 - 15.1%
Trump 7,346 - 33.5%

"I especially want to thank the volunteers," Goldberg said. "The lines were long, but people want their voice heard. And the Republican volunteers are the real heroes of the day for making this such a historic success."

Other interesting highlights from the preliminary count:

Highest percent of votes for Ben Carson: District 38-Bethel, at 41.5%

  • Lowest percent of votes for Ben Carson: District 17: U-Med District, 2.9%

Highest percent of votes for Ted Cruz: District 3-North Pole & North Central FNSB, 48.4%

  • Lowest percent of votes for Ted Cruz: District 36, Ketchikan/Wrangell, 21.7%

Highest percent of votes for John Kasich: District 33, Haines/Juneau, 14.4%

  • Lowest percent of votes for John Kasich: District 40: Barrow, 0.0%

Highest percent of votes for Marco Rubio: District 20, Downtown Anchorage, 25.6%

  • Lowest percent of votes for Marco Rubio: District 8: Knik Goose Bay/Big Lake, 7.5%

Highest percent of votes for Donald Trump: District 39, Nome, 47.3%

  • Lowest percent of votes for Donald Trump: District 38, Bethel, 9.8%

If percentages do not change substantially as out-of-district votes are added, the delegates will be proportionally bound to these candidates:

  • Carson: 0 (Below 13%)
  • Cruz: 12 Delegates
  • Kasich: 0 (Below 13%)
  • Rubio: 5 Delegates
  • Trump: 11 Delegates

Alabama Republican Party

Chairman Lathan Comments on the 2016 Alabama Republican Primary

On Tuesday, Alabamians across the state cast their votes in the 2016 Alabama Republican Primary.

Alabama Republican Party Chairman Terry Lathan made the following statement:

“Tuesday saw a record-breaking day for the Alabama Republican Party when over 867,000 individuals voted in our primary. That number is an increase of 35% from the Republican primary vote of 2012. We are seeing this pattern across the nation as well. Our state saw a large number of new registered voters participate for the first time in our election. There is no doubt that the opportunity to take back our country from Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton’s liberal agenda has the full attention of our citizens.”

“While we are still in the process of choosing our presidential nominee, there is no doubt that our candidate, chosen directly by our voters, will be ready to win in November. With a highly motivated electorate who wants to leave the failed policies of the Obama administration behind us, the Republican Party stands ready to go into November 2016 with a strong team of engaged voters. Working together, we will defend our Alabama Republican races in November as we take back the White House.”

“I advise all Republicans to ignore the divisiveness of the liberal news media. We will not allow them to set our agenda or speak for us. Make no mistake; the Republican Party will join hands across our state and nation as we come together in November. America needs us now, and we will work for one ultimate goal – reversing the liberal policies of the Obama-Clinton regime.”

Why There Will Be No Presidential Straw Poll On Tuesday

Special note from Colorado GOP Chairman Steve House on the executive committee’s decision to eliminate the presidential straw poll:

This past week I have received many questions about why the Colorado GOP eliminated the presidential straw poll at this year’s caucus. There are several important facts and considerations to take into account.

At no time prior to this year has a straw poll bound delegates to specific candidates. Many thought that the 2012 straw poll bound delegates to winner Rick Santorum. In fact it did not.

There are some voters who believe this year the Democrats will bind delegates to Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders on Tuesday – they will not. The last time either party bound their delegates was in 2000 when we had a presidential primary.

This year the Republican National Committee requires that if a party conducts a straw poll it must bind delegates to the results.

Some ask why the Colorado GOP doesn’t just comply and bind all of our delegates proportionally to the result of a straw poll. There are a number of reasons the executive committee decided against the poll this year and I won’t go into all of them.

However, I want to share my most pressing concern with doing a binding preference poll. There is no such thing as a binding preference poll because when you actually award delegates via a poll it’s not a poll – it’s an election. The results could affect the outcome of the presidential race because this year the race is likely to be very close if not unsettled at the national convention.

So what’s wrong with an election? Nothing if you are actually going to run it with all the precautions and security measures of an actual election. In our case we have over 2000 precincts in 64 counties where there is no uniformity of ballots, no uniform credentialing training process, no clarity on who actually counts ballots, no clear answer to who controls the tally sheets, and no uniform transparent process with integrity in the event there needs to be a recount. The prospect of awarding delegates through a straw poll with so many systemic loopholes and fraud risks is an unacceptable gamble given the stakes of this presidential election.

Picking our delegates through a controlled and secure four step process that is open to all registered Republicans is far preferable than an opaque straw poll. Something needs to change going forward but election integrity is still more important to me than any other factor.

I am confident that the process we use to elect delegates which provides the option for delegates to self bind to a presidential candidate will give Coloradans the opportunity they need to express their preference for president.

Massachusetts Republican Party

MASSGOP STATEMENT ON MASSACHUSETTS PRESIDENTIAL PRIMARY

BOSTON -- MassGOP Chairman Kirsten Hughes released the following statement after the close of polls in the Massachusetts presidential primary:

"On behalf of the Massachusetts Republican Party, I want to congratulate and thank all of our Republican candidates on successful and energetic campaigns. As Democrats experience a mass exodus of voters from their party and Republicans see a record-breaking turnout here in Massachusetts, I'm excited about our Party's growth and enthusiasm as we look toward November.

"Tonight, Hillary Clinton experienced a huge setback with an embarrassingly dismal showing in a race with a radical socialist in a state she won handily in 2008, because voters simply do not trust her. Clearly, Democrats are weakened and bruised heading into the fall, as an energized Republican Party prepares to turn the page on the failed Obama years."

TNGOP Statement on Tonight’s Results in the Tennessee Presidential Preference Primary

NASHVILLE, Tenn.-March 1, 2016–The Tennessee Republican Party released the following statement from Chairman Ryan Haynes regarding Tennessee’s results from the Presidential Preference Primary:

“While we are still awaiting complete results from around the state, it is clear that Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, and Marco Rubio will leave Tennessee with delegates. Those three campaigns had large operations in our state and earned votes here. I congratulate Mr. Trump for winning here, as well as Senator Cruz and Senator Rubio for their strong showings. Tonight was the first stage of a national campaign and I commend all of our candidates for competing hard across the SEC Primary and Super Tuesday.”

“Meanwhile, Democrats continue underperforming. Hillary Clinton cannot put away a socialist who is outraising her. On our side, Republicans continue turning out at a record level. We are focused squarely on November and it is clear, as long as our candidates focus on our conservative policy solutions that empower Americans of all colors and all backgrounds, we will win a resounding victory against Hillary Clinton this fall.”
