National Draft Ben Carson for President Committee Hires Tina Goff as Communications Midwest Regional Political Director

Merrifield, Va.—May 19, 2014—The National Draft Ben Carson for President Committee, a political action committee formed to draft Dr. Ben Carson into the race for the 2016 Republican presidential nomination, today announced that Tina Goff, an experienced campaigner and project manager, will serve as the Committee’s Midwest regional political director.

“As more and more Americans join the movement urging Dr. Carson to run for president, the Committee’s regional approach to organizing will ensure that volunteers across the country are working together to build a strong network,” said Vernon Robinson, the Committee’s campaign director. “Tina brings extensive campaign experience and, most importantly, shares our passion for seeing Dr. Carson run for—and win—the Republican presidential nomination.”

As Midwest regional political director, Goff will be responsible for organizing volunteers and planning events for the Committee throughout the Midwest from her home base in Iowa. Goff has previously served as volunteer coordinator and mid-central field director for the successful Governor Branstad 2010 campaign, as well as central regional director of Iowa and volunteer coordinator for Friends for Fred Thompson Inc., organizational director and Iowa director for Friends of Herman Cain, and central Iowa director for Rick Santorum for President.

“I’m so excited to join the National Draft Ben Carson for President Committee and work with volunteers around the Midwest who are as excited about Dr. Carson as I am,” said Goff. “I believe Dr. Carson has the background, experience, leadership and vision to heal our country. I hope we can not only convince him to run for president, but also build a strong network across the country of grassroots Americans who will support his campaign.”

Hundreds of thousands of people have signed petitions encouraging Dr. Carson to enter the race for the nomination. The Committee delivers roughly 4,000 petitions to Dr. Carson each week from Americans who want him to run. In January, Dr. Carson overwhelmingly won the Linn County, Iowa, midterm caucus straw poll with 87 percent of the votes. He also finished strong in the 2014 Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) and Northeast Republican Leadership Conference straw polls. In a recent poll of thousands of Tea Party activists, 77 percent of respondents said they support Dr. Carson.
